Y2K AOK, ZZZ Oh my oh me!

While the rest of the universe grapples with the dreaded Y2K bug (a misnomer in that it is (1) not a bug and (2) not the year 2048, which is what 2K stands for), I am faced with my own poor planning dilema. I only allocated three letters for the story location codes. That means Gav and Peloso's Interactive Story can only handle a grand total of 17,576 epsiodes. When we hit storyzzz.html, I don't know what will happen. Frankly, I guess I never thought we'd get that big. Stupid me. One more letter would have allowed almost half a million episodes.

Someday I'll go in and fix it, but not today. I'm working on a thesis, see, and that's where I need to spend my time. So I'm putting off fixing my own "Z^3 bug" until the last possible moment, much like the rest of the world is doing for it's own little Y2K problem.

And speaking of not spending much time on this site, you may have noticed it's been years since I wrote a new Announcement. I don't devote a whole lot of time to this site anymore, other than keeping it operational. That mean I don't moderate it either. And yet it remains moderated, even better than before! How do I accomplish this amazing feat?!?

Two words: Josh Bieber. A long time ago, I wrote an online editor for Gav and Peloso's Interactive Story. It allows anyone with a web browser to be able to edit stories from whereever in the world they are. My intent was to recruit an army of editors who would maintain the site. Instead, I found I only needed one editor: Josh. He's been keeping this site free of idiocy for years now, and it's about time I acknowledged that fact.
