Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
4/96-Present
5/95-12/95
Graduate Student Research Assistant working on accelerator-based
Boron Neutron Capture Therapy
(BNCT) project at LBNL. Research includes designing
target and moderator assembly for radiation cancer therapy, utilizing MCNP and
other neutron transport codes to model neutronics through target, assembly, and
patient, optimizing accelerator energy and assembly geometry for maximum
tumor dose and minimum dose to healthy tissue in treatment of glioblastma
multiforme and other brain/neck cancers, performing experiments at LBNL's
88" cyclotron to confirm Monte Carlo models.
The Daily Californian
1/97-Present
Staff Cartoonist for The Daily Californian, a Berkeley city
and campus newspaper with a circulation of ~30,000. Comic strip,
Nukees,
drawn twice weekly, plus occasional "special" features.
University of California - Department of Nuclear Engineering
8/94-12/95
Graduate Student Instructor for several courses in nuclear engineering,
including Nuclear Physics, Senior Nuclear Engineering Laboratory, and
Introduction to Nuclear Engineering. Duties included assisting in
instruction, creating and grading assignments and tests, operating and
instructing in the use of lab equipment, organizing tours of national labs,
and tutoring. The laboratory equipment operated were a DT fusion neutron
source and a plasma generator.
Transamerica Real Estate Tax Service
10/93-6/94
Senior General Clerk. Duties included organizing and coordinating office
events, maintaining and repairing office machinery and equipment, office
management, word processing, and desktop publishing.
