The Undergraduate Curriculum Program

The program is designed to prepare students for a career in industry, the national laboratories, or in state or federal regulatory agencies. The program, leading to a BS degree in Nuclear Engineering, emphasizes study in the following three undergraduate options:

In addition, students may elect a double major degree program, combining Nuclear Engineering with Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, with Materials Science Engineering, with Mechanical Engineering, or with Chemical Engineering.

Also there is a new Nuclear Engineering Minor offered.

Students may also be interested in Bionuclear and Radiological Physics Option as a part of the new undergraduate Bioengineering Program/Engineering Science Program.

In addition to the Freshman/Sophomore Seminar NE39, the department offers courses at the upper division level, which include nuclear reactions and radiation, introduction to medical imaging, nuclear reactor theory, fusion power engineering, radioactive waste management, radiological and biophysics, and nuclear materials.

Many students devote a fifth year to earning a master's degree. Students interested in careers in scientific research or in college teaching go on to complete the doctorate.
