GUY MICCO

I am a physician, an internist by training, and I am currently teaching medical students in a small, innovative program called the UC Berkeley - UC San Francisco Joint Medical Program. My interest in medical education has to do especially with the interface of the humanities and medicine, and particularly with what the humanities can teach us about the (good) doctor-patient relationship, aging and old age, and death. I have a soft-spot for medical technology and am a believer in medical "progress," especially since I survived - with much help - acute leukemia two years ago. I look forward to this workshop as an exemplar of creative interdisciplinary work.
