Assistant/Associate Professor Position

Full-time (1.00 FTE), tenure-track, 9-month assistant/associate professor positions to begin September 17, 2018.

Responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and developing a sustainable, externally-funded and nationally recognized research program in a technical subdiscipline of nuclear science and engineering.

A PhD in nuclear engineering, or a closely related field is required. Experience with
(i) nuclear materials science,
(ii) radiation transport modeling and simulation,
(iii) nuclear safety and risk analysis,
(iv) nuclear fuel cycle technologies,
(v) nuclear reactor physics,
(vi) nuclear systems design and analysis, and/or
(vii) nuclear nonproliferation/safeguards/nuclear security is preferred.

In our growing nuclear science and engineering educational program, significant opportunities exist for collaboration with other OSU institutes and research clusters including the OSU Radiation Center, the OSU Materials Science program, the OSU School of Public Policy, and with the national laboratories, nuclear energy startup companies, and high tech industries in the Pacific Northwest.  Oregon State is a founding member of the National University Consortium, part of the Battelle Energy Alliance, the contractor that manages Idaho National Laboratory – the nation’s nuclear energy laboratory.  In Fall 2018, NSE’s faculty will be moving into a newly remodeled Merryfield Hall, increasing the possibilities for collaboration within the College of Engineering and other units at Oregon State, and allowing for increased radiation-related research space in the OSU Radiation Center.
