So, what were the actual radioactive fallout numbers and exposures for the USS Ronald Reagan deck crew and helicopter personnel?

The Pentagon was expected to announce that the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan, which is sailing in the Pacific, passed through a radioactive cloud from stricken nuclear reactors in Japan, causing crew members on deck to receive a month’s worth of radiation in about an hour, government officials said Sunday. The officials added that American helicopters flying missions about 60 miles north of the damaged reactors became coated with particulate radiation that had to be washed off.
“We’re all worrying about it,” said Robert Alvarez, a nuclear expert who, from 1993 to 1999, was a policy adviser to the secretary of energy, who runs the nation’s nuclear complex. “It’s going to be very important,” he added, “for the Japanese and U.S. authorities to inform the public about the nature of the plumes and any need for precautionary measures.”

Biggest Oceanic Radionuclide Spill
"the biggest single outflow of man-made radionuclides to the marine environment ever observed"

PARIS - France's nuclear monitor said on Thursday that the amount of caesium 137 that leaked into the Pacific from the Fukushima disaster was the greatest single nuclear contamination of the sea ever seen.
The IRSN said that, for the Pacific generally, caesium levels would ultimately stabilise at 0.004 becquerels per litre thanks to the diluting effect of powerful ocean currents.
This is twice the concentration that prevailed during atmospheric nuclear testing in the 1960s.
"This is the biggest single outflow of man-made radionuclides to the marine environment ever observed," the agency said in a press release.
How many bananas?

Regarding the USS Ronald Reagan and the US Seventh Fleet …
Realistically, what isotopes were ingested and inhaled by the ship’s company? What were their Neutron, Gamma, Alpha and Beta exposures?
Sarcastically, How many transcontinental flights did they log? Laughingly, What was the Banana Equivalent Dose (BED)?

80% into the drink
80% of the Cesium went into the Pacific
http://mdn.mainichi.jp/mdnnews/news/20111028p2g00m0dm022000c.html
“about a fifth of the cesium fell on land in Japan, while most of the rest fell into the Pacific Ocean. Only about 2 percent of the fallout came down on land outside Japan, the report concluded.”
Last summer, the Japanese government estimated that the March 11 Fukushima accident released 15,000 terabecquerels of cesium.
The new report from Stohl and co-authors estimates about 36,000 terabecquerels through April 20. That's about 42 percent of the estimated release from Chernobyl, the report says.

A dear friend of ours was on
A dear friend of ours was on the RR when this happened.
They recently returned to San Diego. He looked so surprised when we questioned him about hat happened. Totally ignorant of the facts that the average joe could read in the NY Times, etc.
He said "it's ok, we washed down and washed the ship thoroughly".
In Harm's Way

It is time for the USA DOD to 'come clean'!
Irradiation, Ingestion & Inhalation are the concerns. What exposures did the personnel of the Ronald Reagan Carrier Strike Group receive? Washing the personnel and the ships is appropriate as also battening down the hatches. Were anti-radiation drugs issued? What are the peak internal doses measured in the sailors and support personnel?
How long was the US Navy in the deadly Fukushima radionuclide plume? What were the peak radioactive gamma, alpha, beta and neutron readings? What radionuclides were measured and in what concentrations. It is time to release the actual numbers ... NOT the banana equivalent dose or the airline travel analogy. What health measurement follow-ups have taken place?
