Watch "Terror in the dust" - Sanjay Gupta CNN show for perspective on how wrong our government is
Our government tells us there is/was nothing to worry about in the smoke that came across the Pacific from Fukushima, but one has to look no further than CNN tonight to find a similar story about the 911 dust from the trade towers.
Watching this program tonight is worrying. Ten years from now, are they going to have a special about all the people who got cancer or lung problems from the radiation that spewed out of Japan.
If you've been on this forum and followed this stuff since March, you need to see this program.
Even though these folks were in the 'pit' without respirators and close to the exposure, what other people further out of the 'pit' were exposed and have the same problems. I imagine it's really difficult to track that.
And the sad part is, no doctor can confirm the direct correlation from 911 dust and cancer, but they all expect it.
It will horrify you to find out what was in the 911 dust.
I cannot help but think of Fukushima and the realities that have not yet set in.

The dust affected the first
The dust affected the first responders and those living and working very close to Ground Zero. Fukushima is more than 10,000 km away. The radiation will most likely not affect you. The people living in Fukushima, sadly, are a whole other story.
And that's what you think
And that's what you think because they have ONLY TRACKED FIRST RESPONDERS. It's easy to track first responders because they get their lungs and everything else checked on a yearly basis. They have DETAILED measurements to show that they were healthy and now the same measurements show they are not as healthy. For an average individual living and breathing this stuff in the city or elsewhere, how many 911 dust particles does it take to create a cancer? Did you read about what was in that dust? Watch Sanjay Gupta's special on CNN and find out for yourself.
And setting aside our government and the 911 dust, do you think the Japanese government is going to tell us Americans (or anyone) the truth about what was in those floating 'clouds' of radiation that came over here with the wind and the rain in March? How many of those particles does it take to kill one person? I would argue it takes one. Yes only ONE 'hot' particle to start a cancer. And we all inhaled many of them.
So sit back and feel safe. And you know what? You actually should because you don't want to live your life worrying and creating a cancer from that, but just be aware that no matter how miniscule or FAR AWAY those particles or dust elements seem to be, they can still kill you and no official or authority is going to tell you that on a major news network. That is, not until 10 years later when people start dying from it. Apparently, it's not appropriate to tell anyone until 1) it's all over and 2) people are dead and/or dying. And here we are. A second round of what the terrorists had hoped for.
For those of us who have been in this forum for SIX MONTHS now, we know this, have talked about it, written about it, but here we are discussing 911 in similar contexts and there is STILL denial out there about the reality (as seen above).
And we all know our opinions don't mean a hill of beans right now, because what's done is done, but I'm sure as hell mad about it. The people who can't breathe in NYC right now are mad about it, but the only thing they can do is hug and kiss their loved ones and hope they don't die sooner than they think.
It's a shame that we have to learn such silly lessons as "make sure you have a respirator with charcoal filters before you go down to the pile" TEN YEARS after they needed them.
Those of us here on the west coast and others across the U.S. would have loved a plan of action from a knowledgeable authority in March, but we had to desperately search high and low for the 'real' answers. Thank god BRAWM is here, but still, did we each do enough to protect ourselves and our family from what is to come?
Sorry to be so doom and gloom, I am just so very angry that these men and women in NY are going through these health issues after risking their lives to save others. Inhaling the dust could have been prevented if only there was an organized effort to get those available masks to everyone. Instead, everyone was told the air was 'safe' and the first responders and the rest of the world believed them.
How many times have we heard that our air, water and food is "safe" this year?
Transference?
I believe this is an example of the logical fallacy called "transference".
If the Government claimed the 9/11 dust wasn't bad, and it turned out to be bad; and the Government claimed Fukushima smoke wasn't bad; then we can therefore conclude that the Fukushima smoke is bad because the 9/11 dust turned out to be bad.
A classical example of false reasoning
logic
You argument is very close to our government's tendency to rely on 'plausable deniability'. If you get caught lying to a jury, the rest of your testimony loses credibility. Therefore, it follows that once a government is caught lying, the rest of their testimony loses credibility. Does that fit your desire for strict if - then logic? Just to add... Motive, opportunity, and a history, pretty much invalidates any secure feeling in our government's pronouncements. Except for those of us who fit the adage of 'once a fool, always a fool' because, lets face it, 'once a liar, always a liar! Granted 'once a liar, always a liar' doesn't follow the strict rules of logic, but don't you think that even Plato would agree with 'once a liar, always a liar', or would you believe someone who has already lied to you?
No, we can conclude that the
No, we can conclude that the Government CLAIM that the Fukushima smoke wasn't bad is likely to be wrong. Because if the 911 dust turns out to be bad, their previous claim about that was wrong. It is logical to be sceptical of a source of information's claim on a topic when they have already been proven to be wrong about a similar topic.
False Conclusion
No, we can conclude that the Government CLAIM that the Fukushima smoke wasn't bad is likely to be wrong. Because if the 911 dust turns out to be bad, their previous claim about that was wrong
==========================
That doesn't logically follow. You can suspect it. You can be skeptical.
But the fact that the Government was wrong about 9/11 does NOT PROVE the Government is wrong about Fukushima.
If we waited for people like
If we waited for people like yourself to prove it for us, we'd all be dead. Government doesn't prove anything until it's all over and all the consequences have been realized. This also happened when pills they gave soldiers in Desert Storm to 'protect' them from chemical agents caused severe birth defects in the children that they conceived when they came home. They are now just recently hinting this may be true.

Perhaps you work for the
Perhaps you work for the government. Time will tell. Let's see if you think it's a fallacy in 10 years.
When the government tells you not to worry, you should worry.
Could have been worse but would u have been told?Similaritys
As stated in the CNN dust doc it was very important to get ny stock exchange up and running so if the EPA had said the dust was toxic this could not have occurred .this was a financial decision by our government was it wrong .for the first responders he'll ya but for our economy to survive huge losses it was decided .as for Fukushima the same bs all is fine was the official
Pr even well before the severity of the whole crisis was known and fukushima could have been way worse say a spent fuel pool collapsed .then what?
People Have a Right Fundamental Human Right to be Told the Truth
The bottom line: people have a fundamental human right to be told the truth so they can make informed decisions. To not tell the truth about matters that could affect the health and/or safety of any individual or group of individuals... either by lying, misleading, or by omission, is an unethical, criminal act as far as I am concerned. Governments that do not trust their people with the truth, in turn, will not be trusted, and that can lead to all sort of unpleasant political consequences over time.
