I read somewhere, probably this forum, that it can reflect the moments in which the corium that is left inside the containment vessel is covered by water, thus shielded, and the moments in which it is uncovered (more radiation). Or it can be a faulty device. I don't really know when or how do they measure, is it the average for the whole day, is it a single reading taken at the same time everyday? Anyway, this site is not an official website but from a guy that is collecting the info released by the Japanese METI everyday: http://www.meti.go.jp/press/2011/09/20110908002/20110908002-2.pdf (In Japanese)

How interesting! I'v e been playing around with the options, but without reference or key, have no idea how to interpret. For example, why graph spikes re: unit 1, but not 2 & 3? (and no info on the graph re: spent fuel rods option)
There's a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum ... please help us neophytes understand?

Anyone else look into this?

There's a lot we don't know. I wonder if it has something to do with why so much energy is being spent on covering unit 1 first.
