That's a rather large number remember this is an estimate it could far exceed that number or I suppose it could be less.doubting that! Where's the jet stream depositing this radiation now Alaska ? Canada?
Brawm a question as gunderson believes we will continue to see fallout from Japan just from them cleaning up / burning /debris/ waste /wood ect any thoughts on this junk making it here probably tiny compared to releases from plant but if there injecting it in jet stream via smoke this could effect us correct?

According to that source, when the major releases were occurring in March (due to venting and hydrogen explosions) their estimate is "2 quadrillion becquerels per hour," or 2×1015 Bq/hr. For current releases, the estimate is "1 billion becquerels per hour" at most, or <1×109 Bq/hr. This means the emissions now are less than 1 millionth of the releases at the peak of the crisis. Here on the West Coast we were able to detect the peak of the releases and track the levels in the atmosphere for over 2 months. At their peak the levels were very tiny, but we were able to track the levels down to one thousandth of their peak, which were extremely low levels. Since the current release levels are so small, and since they aren't accompanied by large explosions to aid in their dispersal, we will not be able to detect anything in the U.S. Mark [BRAWM Team Member]

Mark, If the Japanese authorities are authorizing burning radioactively contaminated waste isn't that a way for the contamination to freshly 'disperse' from Japan to the U.S.? The burning is good for Japan (it gets rid of the material from Japan) but it is bad for the U.S. which is downwind via the jetstream. You therefore need to keep monitoring to see if that burning is elevating the contamination in the U.S. back up, the EPA seem to have given up doing any meaningful monitoring, the poor dears, it is all probably just far too complicated for them. Your assertion "we will not be able to detect anything in the U.S." is a little too confident an assertion in light of the uncertainties of jetstream dispersal.

If they are insignificant, why was there a spike in Beta to over 300 in Phx AZ today? It's been gradually increasing for the past few days and today it jumped to what it was during March. Gamma rays have been increasing, too. I don't believe Tepco for a moment.

EPA RadNet spikes are from radon

I just made a sticky post to explain this, but the spikes in EPA RadNet are due to variations in radon decay products. This is a natural phenomenon. Please read the the sticky post for the details.

Consistent high spikes in SD for close to 6 months at levels over 100, now some 200+ to 300, have prompted us to sell all and leave.
But man, Amarillo's spikes would have me outta there even faster. What is causing it?
Long term low (and not so low!) contamination is a recipe for serious health issues. I won't live like this anymore.

If you want some Beta Drama, take a look at Denver for the past several years, for example.

I know some people don't want to believe Mark, but it is true: Radon is very prevalent, and it follows those up and down spike patterns. (I wonder if the radon from granite kitchen counters is cyclical or constant??)

There was a heck of a spike, and several other smaller but higher spikes, in San Diego earlier this month. Actually, the Radnet graph for SD since this whole tragedy began has consistent spiking over 100, many to 200, topped off with 300 last week. Wtf?

I have stopped consuming products and services that support these issues that take a gouge out of OUR planet, our air, our water, our lives.
