Site not working -- we're fixing it (8/18/2011)

Last night after some upgrades to our system took place, it appears that the mechanism for posting no longer works.

We're looking into the problem and will fix it as soon as we can. Please stay tuned.

Thanks for letting everyone know what has been going on. I tried unsuccessfully to post yesterday and was only able to post today after multiple tries and ended up posting a reply as 'Anonymous' with the following signature.

PICATCHA showing multiple photos of items is cute, but worse is having to enter a string of doubles/very faint images of capital and lower case letters for CAPTCHA beyond 8 such as this: EttAABBTTddRR and have a failure to post.

-Off my menu: All Seafoods because the oceans really are a military and industrial sewer! Yes, I will miss Anchovies on my pizza, fishsticks, red snapper, tuna (even 'chicken of the sea' is no longer 'worthy,'crab, fake crab (made with Pollock, an ocean fish), clam chowder, Nori Seaweed,Caviar etc... Nobody likes CAPTCHA

I'm glad that the updates were helpful, and sorry for the inconvenience to you.

You have pointed out a big downside to using CAPTCHA — pretty much nobody likes it, and bots can sometimes still get through. The people who are developing PICATCHA (recent UC Berkeley EECS graduates!) are trying to make the problem both harder for computers and more pleasant for humans. We would like this as well and hope we can get it working properly soon.

I've changed the CAPTCHA settings for now so that the codes are not as hard. No more double vision, and only six characters.

@ Hot Caviar: I think there are 7 letters...just choose "one" of each double letter....if that helps! :-)

Thanks again! The image as copied concerning the CAPTCHA was exactly what I got and figured out that instead of 2 of each letter, what was required to get a post up was to type in only 1 of each letter as given as you said.

Congrats to the team working on PICATCHA to enable a 'friendlier' user experience.
