NSSC MSI Research Institution Receives Grant to Establish New Courses
The University of Texas at El Paso, an NSSC MSI Research Institution, was awarded a $1.4 million grant from the NRC to establish new courses in nuclear engineering and to conduct research on next-generation materials for nuclear reactors. In his capacity as Executive Director of the NSSC, Nuclear Engineering Professor Karl van Bibber provided invaluable guidance and support for this research proposal and will serve on the advisory board to mentor UTEP faculty throughout the course creation proecess. The four-year grant will fund multiple internships for UTEP students to participate in nuclear energy research at the University of California, Berkeley; the University of California, Davis; or the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).
