Too late to stock up on canned fish?

Is it too late to stock up on pre-Fukushima canned fish? Any recommendations?

Atlantic & GOM Tuna

:)

You can get all the safe, fresh tuna you want. Just forget about fish from the North Pacific radioactive dumpground.

For example: Atlantic Bluefin Tuna, Thunnus thynnus (Linnaeus, 1758), aka bluefin tuna, is highly prized.

One fish can sell for tens of thousands of dollars. A 342 kg tuna sold at Tokyo's Tsukiji fish market for 32.49 million yen ($396,700 US dollars), the highest price for a single fish since record-keeping began in 1999, that's 95,000 yen ($1,157) per kg!

There are also lots of other, more economic choices.

Atlantic, Texas & Humboldt

Yes, TEPCO destroyed the North Pacific Fishery but there are other fisheries to tide you over for the next 50 million years or so. Or until the bad-boys at TEPCO, GE, Hitachi, Toshiba, Siemens and Areva have filtered all the radionuclides from the waters between Japan and California.

I am not beating the drum for these particular companies. I don't know a thing about them. But the Texas coast and the West Atlantic coast have some of the finest seafood you could ever want. Oh and the South American fisheries are super as well, particularly the Humboldt Current.

Great links - thank you!

Great links - thank you! You are right about the South American fisheries. We travel to South America a lot. The food and water is all so fresh and unspoiled, it's amazing. The soil is extremely fertile and you can taste the difference immediately, all the way through the food chain. So looking forward to our trip next month, to be able to eat and drink whatever we like without fear and stress.
And this trip will be to house hunt. Very tired of all this chaos.

1800 and froze to death

While I am not a Mormon. Perhaps they have a few good ideas. For example, you would still be looking at 7 months worth of safe tuna, if you followed their advice on food storage.

One of the Mormon Founders, Joseph Smith, if memory serves started this practice. His family almost starved out during the year of 'eighteen hundred and froze to death' (1816).

Food Fraud

:(

Food fraud is likely to put a heaping helping of radioactive fallout on our plate. Pacific seafood is only one small part of the switcheroo. Rice, Tea, Spices and all the rest will be on your dinner table soon.

Food tracking technology has been fully debugged for years. However, until a particular group of politically connected LOOTERS gain control of the technology, nothing will happen. Then you will pay dearly to the looters. And they will still swap food arround, when we are not watching.

The game is rigged my friend and oh, by the way, enjoy your radioactive meals.

The USA and Canadian governments refuse to publish food tests. Congress and federal judges get the results. You can just 'hope for the best'.

:(

Disgusting....

Hey, why not get some of these types of fish from Taji Japan. It will be radioactive and contain high levels of mercury and PCBs.

Yum a food that will literally give you lots of energy !

Sad to say, you are correct

Sad to say, you are correct in large part, my friend. We must be extra vigilent and even then, it will be very difficult.
Great links in the other posts, and I will explore. Thanks to those contributing.
Coincidentally, I just returned from an hour long trip each way to a specialty food store that only sells Mediterranean imports - one of the few in the San Diego area - and stocked up on tuna from Italy and Spain. Expensive, yes, but delicious and radiation free for now. Who knows what the future will hold. My trip there was due to the recent information about the ole switcheroo in Japan with their fishermen playing games with what port they bring the tuna into, etc.
I never thought I'd see the day when canned fish would be a luxury item.

Congratulations

;)

You are taking control of the situation and taking responsibility for your own health.

Congratulations, more of this personal initiative is needed.

They are therefore, worse than useless.
