Bring Them To JUSTICE
:
Criminal Corporations
There have been a number of criminal corporations and their corporate officers which have been ‘brought to justice’ or simply left to flounder and die. Other criminal enterprises remain ‘at-large’. Some examples include ENRON, Arthur Andersen, Lehman Brothers, I G Farber, East India Company, Dutch West India Company, Royal African Company, FleetBoston Financial, CSX, Aetna … et al. The actions in question include fraud, drug-smuggling, slaving, mass murder and the like.
An apt case en pointe is the NAZI corporation IG Farber, more formally known as Interessengemeinschaft Farbenindustrie Aktiengesellschaft (“Syndicate of Dyestuff-Industry Corporations.”). IG Farben was founded on December 25, 1925, as a merger of: BASF, Bayer, Hoechst, Agfa, Chemische Fabrik Griesheim-Elektron, and Chemische Fabrik vorm. Weiler Ter Meer. Due to the severity of the war crimes committed by IG Farben during World War II, the company was considered to be too corrupt to be allowed to continue to exist. The Soviet Union seized most of IG Farben's assets located in the Soviet occupation zone, as part of their reparation payments. The Western Allies in 1951, split the company up into its original constituent companies. A number of IG Farber executives and directors were imprisoned for their war crimes.

Corporations in a consumer envionment are at the mercy of all
I am a heretical capitalist. I am also a person living in community who puts value in my stock in community first and foremost. That which does not foster social, economic and environmental justice is shunned. I guess that makes me a social capitalist?
We need not fear the current circumstance. Let's educate ourselves, witness to one another and bring light to the dark toxic corners where the disease finds residence. We need to learn the details of the path that leads to the impending demise of the corporate state.
It will soon become apparent that the corporate world has done itself in by eliminating legal safeguards, guidance and checks in the power of corporations via the money-driven political process. In succeeding so well in this program they have defined their own demise.
There are NO meaningful sanctions and little social guidance for corporations now. The religion of capitalism puts profits before EVERYTHING. In the US we have almost perfected perfect capitalism as the state religion.
The oligarchy views the public as farm animals at best. Beasts of burden to till the fields providing milk and meat as required for the international royal class. Witness the recent legal insertion of insurance profits into the nations healthcare system. In most (all ?) of the rest of the aspiring first world nations see the insanity of inserting a self-actuating spiraling cost center in the delivery of healthcare and have made for-profit health insurance ILLEGAL.
The public will learn the names of those (corporations and entities) that kill, poison and otherwise impair health and happiness. The current refrain of evil 'big government' will be replaced with 'the oligarchy' or 'corporate powers'.
Because the state church of capitalism says that all must be sacrificed on the alter of profits and increasingly enforces this dogma with edicts and laws the population will initially respond by taking custom elsewhere. Of course more duopolies and monopolies will be created. Anti-boycott laws will be pasted. Wars of diversion and economic shock therapy will be used. While the crystal ball gets cloudy at this point, I see the eventuality of a informed public that sees that the emperor has no clothes. In time boycotts will be perfected, economics will be intentionally reshaped, corporations will be subject to a death penalty through fiat and the law and a better balance will occur.
Beautifully Written. Actions Are Required, However.
"We need not fear the current circumstance. Let's educate ourselves, witness to one another and bring light to the dark toxic corners where the disease finds residence. We need to learn the details of the path that leads to the impending demise of the corporate state."

We must act. Our minds and our passion are our 'arsenal'. Ghandi and others very well laid plain these facts through 'civil disobedience' and 'passive resistance'. Such actions have always led to the shedding of the 'cloak of oppression', however temporary.
Industry has never seen science as anything but a tool- a 'means to an end'. That is why vast, VAST amounts of the 'Industry Owned Science' and it's accompanying conclusions are so 'extremely weak'. That has certainly been exemplified on this forum hasn't it?
Therefore such 'false science' should be challenged at every corner by well researched scientists and autodidacts who wield the true 'Reality Based Science'. Scientists who champion such 'industry owned refuse' should be labeled as the 'quacks' they are. There should be no hesitation once a scientific premise or calculation has been laid bare as 'fabricated for industry purposes'.
Universities, regardless of how prestigious or beloved, which play ball with industry as opposed to guarding Public Health, trading their PhD's for 'Carnival Rings' on the 'Industry Merry Go Round', should be exposed as such.
Government Defunding is one way to do that.
Aggressive 'Solar Power Expansion' should be undertaken in tandem. Energy Industry Lies concerning limits of solar energy should be completely ignored.
This forum should be raised as a shining example as to how 'Industry Owned Science' has shown to be as 'fragile and failed in design', in the face of a 'true scientific challenge from independent scientists and autodidacts', as the G.E. Manufactured Mark 1 Nuclear Reactors were in 'reality'.
It is my hope that this is the first of such acts setting matters concerning public health straight through 'Reality Based Science'.

The major electric utilities that build nuclear plants have been among the most generous campaign contributors to Graham and Clyburn.
House Assistant Democratic Leader Jim Clyburn said the Japanese catastrophe will deliver "important lessons," but he also pushed back against calls from some lawmakers to freeze all permitting of new nuclear plants in the United States.
"I have absolute confidence in the rigorous inspection and licensing regime in place at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission," Clyburn, of Columbia, said. "I remain convinced that a clean energy future will not be possible without an investment in a diverse set of energy sources, including a renewed commitment to nuclear energy."
Clyburn got $483,863 from electric utilities from 1992 through 2010, with General Electric his third-largest donor at $74,800, according to the campaign-finance watchdog group.

WASHINGTON — Sen. Lindsey Graham said Thursday that the Japanese crisis hasn't shaken his confidence in nuclear power and praised President Barack Obama for moving ahead with federal loan guarantees to build new plants. Graham said four new reactors planned for South Carolina and Georgia — two in each state — have different designs than the Fukishima Daiichi plant facing possible core meltdowns at as many as six reactors.
"I live five miles from a nuclear plant," he said. "I know people at the plant. They're very dedicated, hardworking people. I have a lot of faith in the nuclear industry."
Graham received $264,055 from the industry from 2005 through 2010, with SCANA Corp. his No. 2 corporate donor at $58,630, according to the Center for Responsive Politics in Washington.

:(
The US Senate, House of Representatives, federal courts, diplomatic corps, federal agencies and the White House have long been sold to the high bidder, as have both political parties.
Recently the lot of them have been marked down and moved to the bargain rack for quick sale. There is no shortage of examples.
If you have the stomach for it, here is a fine and pretty piece of lying and hypocrisy. This is an ongoing, knee-jerk litany of 'it can't happen here'.
While I remain a tepid supporter for nuclear power... these lying fools, working in concert with the General Electric murderous pirates ... give me pause. US Nuclear reactor control rooms have never even been subject to the national fire code. Give me a break. There is no safety culture in the US nuclear power industry, or the GE Mark-1 systems would NEVER have been built.

Crimes Against Humanity
Knowing and/or willful negligence leading to massive radiation release is, by my lights a crime against humanity. Mass casualties, suffering and death are underway on Honshu Island Japan; which are of the same order of magnitude as the NAZI war crimes in WWII. The Fukushima nuclear power plants are long-known to be grossly defective in specification, engineering, design, construction, inspection and operation.
There is no plausible excuse for this misconduct, much like in a drunken vehicular homicide. These crimes, leading to mass casualties, are aggravated by willful misconduct such as withholding: timely evacuation orders, shelter, medical supplies, diagnostic procedures, decontamination, medical treatment, clean food and water.

Some force was brought to bear against local German: officials, prison guards, military personnel, medical personnel and civilians. This included ‘armed persuasion’ as required for tours, exhumations, burial details, medical care and the like. Such compulsions did not offend world sensibilities at the time.

Shuttlecock of responsibility
:
“We find the various participants in the programme tossing the shuttlecock of responsibility from one to the other”
http://www.loc.gov/rr/frd/Military_Law/pdf/Law-Reports_Vol-15.pdf
The Supplemental Judgment, dated 11th August, 1948, of the Tribunal which tried Oswald Pohi and others(3) contains the following observation:
" An elaborate and complex operation, such as the deportation and extermination of the Jews and the appropriation of all their property, is obviously a task for more than one man. Launching or promulgating such a programme may originate in the mind of one man or a group of men. Working out the details of the plan may fall to another. Procurement of personnel and the issuing of actual operational orders may fall to others. The actual execution of the plan in the field involves the operation of another, or it may be several other persons or groups. Marshalling and distributing the loot, or allocating the victims, is another phase of the operations which may be entrusted to an individualor a group far removed from the original planners.
As may be expected, we find the various participants in the programme tossing the shuttlecock of responsibility from one to the other. The originator says: 'It is true that I thought of the programme, but I did not carry it out.' The next in line says: 'It is true I laid the plan out on paper and designated the modus operandi but it was not my plan and I did not actually carry it out.' The third in line says: 'It is true I shot people, but I was merely carrying out orders from above.' The next in line says: 'It is true that I received the loot from this programme and inventoried it and disposed of it, but I did not steal it nor kill the owners of it. I was only carrying out orders from a higher level.'
yeah but how ?
How you gonna get the bad guys ?
I think Karma coming around to bight them in the arsnick is the best hope we have.
What a powerful idea for
What a powerful idea for getting people content about DOING NOTHING. Let KARMA take care of everything. BRILLIANT.
Karma Shmarma...DO SOMETHING IN THIS LIFE!
I agree, that whole Karma explanation doesn't do it for me either. The way I see it, let's take personal responsibility to do something in the here and now, and leave "Karma" to take care of itself, or not.
I have been watching those sad, upsetting videos from Fukushima (see Bakrad). And I have been wondering what we can do from here to put public pressure on the Japanese government and Tepco to evacuate all those people. Something with maximum effectiveness. We need to do something that will shame those in power, without further hurting the Japanese people (that's why boycotts often backfire, although in this case, I am not buying anything from Japan anyway).
Ideas anyone?

Tomoya Kawakita, a Japanese American who served as an interpreter and guard at a POW camp in Oeyama, Japan; was accused and convicted of treating American POWs brutally, and the case files include many interviews with the POWs at the camp. Some of these interviews also describe working conditions at a nearby nickel smelting plant owned by the Mitsubishi Corporation that employed POWs from the neighboring camp

Class action lawsuits against corporations for human rights violations
http://www.loc.gov/rr/frd/Military_Law/pdf/NaziWarCrimes_Japanese-Record...
By February 2000, more than a dozen class action lawsuits had been filed in the United States against Japanese corporations by former Allied prisoners of war, civilian internees, and Asian slave laborers. Additional suits were filed and in preparation for Japanese courts seeking redress for “comfort women,” slave laborers, and other victims of Japanese crimes, all of whom demanded a Japanese apology and compensation from Japanese courts. The Simon Wiesenthal Center lobbied Attorney General Janet Reno and the Pentagon for the release of U.S. documents concerning amnesties granted to Japanese war criminals, including amnesties granted to supervisors of Japan’s biological and chemical warfare program in exchange for the data obtained from experiments conducted on humans in the infamous Unit 731, Japan’s biological warfare unit.
