During Chernobyl all EPA tests were much more frequent long term. Nuclear accident and sampling decreased?

I have been running many Enviorfacts searches, of course to no avail in getting recent results. What I did notice is that during Chernobyl all trypes of sampling were much much for frequent, not just for a few months after the accident, but appear to be their previous normal sampling schedule. This stinks, it really stinks
