Spam Filter v Blocked

Spam Filter v Blocked

I am not blocked from posting to this blog.

However, one convenient IP address has been tagged by the spam filter.

Please post the phone/email contact information for the webmaster.

It is sometimes inconvenient to alias IP addresses.

Yes, blocked

The problem understandably recurred on Saturday, July 3.

Many, very-old posts started to reactivate at the top of the blog. This appeared to be in response to an inquiry, (not mine), regarding some thousand posts deleted from the BRAWM blog.

I admittedly over-posted on this blog, with obviously meaningless posts such as 'bump', 'a' and the like. This tactic was employed, simply to restore approximately 20 active topics to the top of the listing.

It was recognized, as a 2nd, and more remote possibility, that an actual spam attack was in progress.

The same, convenient URL was again blocked by the spam filter. In that regard, the spam filter was responding appropriately, to my apparent over use.

The spam blockage was not a particular problem, as I simply aliased a replacement IP Address, as before.

Hi Bill Duff, I'm looking

Hi Bill Duff,

I'm looking into this. What error message are you getting when you try to submit? You can email the message and your IP to me at: bandstra (at) berkeley (dot) edu and I'll see what I can do.

Is anyone else having a problem with the spam filter?

Mark [BRAWM Team Member]

Yes

About three weeks ago, I had a lot of trouble posting a comment onto one of the threads. Tried quite a few times to get message posted. Then got message that spamming appeared to be coming from me, and was blocked from further posting. Let's see if this one gets through.

Yes, OK now.
