Update: 6/30/11, 6:15 P.M. - Web Sites down

A brief note to confirm our web sites were down for half a day. This is "Chapter 2, the Final Saga" with our previous web host (see 6/9/11 Update for background), who is now history. As was the case in Chapter 1 of the story, even though this web site was down, the Radiation Network itself continued to operate, which monitoring included another tentative Radiation Alert from the Kauai station which we are investigating. Looking forward, it will take a couple of days to fix everything, including timely updating of the maps. Thank you for your patience during this period.

Los Alamos

I don't think I have ever seen radnet down for this long. They are a trustworthy site and hope they are up soon. The other site-blackcatsystems.com is OK. I am curious as to the levels in New Mexico near Los Alamos, since the fire has breached the perimeter of the nuclear lab. Black cat has no monitor in NM, while I am not sure about radnet, but in any case, if the fire reaches the storage facility of plutonium, we'll all have to pray.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that your comment "relax. internet stuff happens..." was not meant to sound condescending, but it does.
And you are wrong. It is still inaccessible. At least for some, which makes no sense.

Not meant to be condescending

But, this isn't the first time the site has had problems. The last time spawned all kinds of government shutdown posts. Internet stuff does happen. And it's happened before with Radiation Network site. As they have documented in their own message page:

Update: 6/9/11, 8:20 A.M. - RadiationNetwork.com down

http://radiationnetwork.com/Message.htm

Last evening, our web site RadiationNetwork.com went down. Since we use that site to upload the Radiation Maps for the benefit of the general public, there is a perception that the Radiation Network itself went down. But this is not so - the Monitoring Network continued uninterrupted during this period, and contributing members of that network were still sharing their radiation count data over the network, and monitoring activity using the Radiation Maps and Remote Graphs available within their copies of the underlying software which "run" the network. Here is the back story, though.

(The rest of the explanation is in the link above, if you can access it)

I can access the map, but it's old info with a date/time of 6/30 1:44pm. Looks like the site is wedged. They'll fix it.

Crap it's so difficult to

Crap it's so difficult to find trustworthy up to date info about Japan, Nebraska, Los Alamos, etc, you can't blame anyone for spawning gov't shutdown questions - your words there dude. I don't think that happened, but I understand why someone would think it.
this forum is one of the few places people can go to find and share information and ask questions. No wonder folks are suspicious.

"Internet stuff does happen.

"Internet stuff does happen. And it's happened before with Radiation Network site. As they have documented in their own message page:"

Those of us who access RN know this happens and has happened before with this site. But the post did sound a little condescending. I think we're all just a little tired of, and perhaps ultra sensitive to, comments that sound like we're overreacting.
The comments here about RN merely relay that we're having problems accessing. It came off as stating the obvious("internet stuff happens"), like a pat on the head to a child. We get it. We're just letting each other know it's down.

This has been the case all day. It was up last night.
