New air monitoring results from France ending Jun 6
Here they are: Iodine still being detected

IMHO these CRIIRAD data are a model of transparency in comparison to those of the EPA. I don't agree with the novel EPA notion that you only test for individual radionuclides if the gamma rates justify it. Think this is unscientific, as plenty of unconcerning things can affect the gamma rates, as we keep being told--what we really want to know about are the nasties like cesium, iodine.

How can iodine be detected
How can iodine be detected all the way in France without being detected here?
Last detection in France on
Last detection in France on 4/25. This correlates with original meltdown, and of course, I-131 a-plenty was detected here from that event.

If you could read the
If you could read the results, you would see that the last I-131 detect was a trace on 4/25.
Iodine still there, on the further pages
No, there are 2 additional pages after this one (you have to scroll down the pdf) and the air measurement on 16 June still detects iodine.
It does not. It has a less
It does not. It has a less than sign, indicating that there was a less than detectable amount. If you look at BRAWM's measurements you will see the "MDA" - minimum detectable amount. Same thing on the French report - there may be I-131 or whatever but is below detectable levels, which means that there is either a)none (likely) or b)damned little.
Oh! I see
Oh yes I see! thanks for the explanation, that makes me happy (happier) (:
You don't know what "<"
You don't know what "<" means?
I assumed...
I assumed that < 0,06 means less than 0.06, ie they detected some but it was less than 0.06mBq/m3. That is incorrect?
