Veg gardening in fallout-contaminated soil - lessons from Chernobyl
Not peer reviewed science but have read some promising stuff about the Growbiointensive veg growing method as practiced in Chernobyl-contaminated regions:

Seems the double-digging method dilutes the soil contamination. Might be a good idea for those who were thinking of starting a garden but decided not to, post-Fukushima, to go ahead after all using this method. It's likely that food we buy in the stores has not been grown this way, so this could be a way of getting better quality food.
