Ironically, I just read this AM on BakRad that scientists are wondering why the radiation from Fukushima spread so rapidly to the Southern Hemisphere.
This really saddened me further, since I too, thought that at least moving there was an option. However, I assume that the amount detected in the Southern Hemisphere is still significantly less that what is drifting--and floating--here in the Northern Hemisphere, especially along the same latitude as Japan.

Well, to be fully accurate, the readings in the southern hemisphere were trace and found in Australia, Fiji Islands, etc. None found in South America. If you look at the trade wind flow, you can see why. Bolivia is good. Southern s. america is better and very beautiful/unspoiled. A lot of European families with money have been moving there over the past 10 years, accelerating in the past few years. While you don't need a lot of money - bolivia and ecuador are good examples - you do need to first shake yourself out of the normalcy bias, and look at a new life and culture as a positive. Most Americans can't or won't do that. It's only for the truly brave, not those who resign themselves to "there's nothing I can do" or find other excuses. Our ancestors did the same when they came to the US looking for a better life.
