How do Thorium and Uranium emissions from coal compare to Fukushima?

Posted by BC-

Okay. Tons of Uranium and Thorium are emitted by coal-fired power plants every year. If one were to look up the amount emitted, and then factor in the becquerels or curies of radiation, I have to wonder, what would that number would look like?

addition, not subtraction!

Stop minimalizing this diasater by comparing nuclear emmissions to coal emmissions. The toxic emmissions from coal plants are still poisoning us AND Fukushima compounds the problem by ADDING layer upon layer of carcinogens to our food, air and water. They are BOTH bad for our health. It's addition, not subtraction.

Not minimizing. This makes

Not minimizing. This makes me sad and sick. I would like to see all pollution of all types stopped for the health of the people and the planet. It won't happen, I know.

My point was that we probably are dumping hundreds of thousands of terabecquerels of radiation per year through the smokestacks of coal plants.

The hard decisions at Lawrence Livermore

Perhaps we can get the lab to fund a set of independent, cutting edge epidemiology studies to take advantage of their sudden and overwhelming need for their re branding and the huge opportunities the crap blowing over the pacific represents..... maybe...

Soon the hard working folks at the lab will HAVE to start taking themselves less seriously. Next off hard decisions will have to be made like 'do we accelerate the depleted plutonium weapons project or rename and reschedule it? ' The black projects are juicy but the politics are thick....
