Hazards of Cumulative Impacts

Here is a new website called http://cumulativeimpacts.org/

They state that the Cumulative Impacts of all hazards we are exposed to should be considered and not just the effects of individual hazards.

UCB was involved in the lengthy report, although there is not much mention of the hazards of radiation or nuclear when you try the search engine, I wonder why that is?

JFP

correct

They are right and it's an issue that is all but totally ignored in so-called risk assessment of chemicals, pesticides, GMOs etc. In Europe we now have a pesticides law that takes these impacts somewhat into consideration, though industry does not like it. I would imagine that this website's focus has been more on chemicals and not on radiation and that explains why it doesn't feature much. Certainly there is more independent research on the cumulative and synergistic effects of chemicals than there is on radiation, though I believe Dr Chris Busby has worked on the effects of radiation from man-made accidents combined with natural radiation (he says they have a synergistic effect). Sorry can't give a citation or link as not sure where I saw this!

Thanks for your reply. It

Thanks for your reply. It seems plausible that radiation would have a synergistic effect with other carcinogens. I suspect that those involved with this website will soon add these radioactive hazards to their assessments.

It will be interesting to see how the future increase in cancer rates will be pawned off on chemicals, pesticides, GMO's, or living too close to the highway.

How will the true effects or the radiation on humanity ever really be known? And will those in the know ever consistently report it as such?

hazards of cumulative impacts

I invite you to submit suggestions for documents and reports about cumulative and synergistic effects of radiation to be included on the cumulativeimpacts.org website. Send them to moreinfo@cumulativeimpacts.org. This is a brand new site and we are indeed building it as we go.

Not as long as there's

Not as long as there's gigantic amounts of money involved.
