Mark I Containment Report
March 19, 2011
PURPOSE
This paper describes the Mark I containment design in use in the 23 U.S. reactors and its ability to fulfill its safety function in containing fission product releases under design basis conditions. It also offers, as an initial matter, some observations about the performance of the Mark I containment under many beyond-design-basis events experienced at Fukushima Daiichi in March 2011.
The following should be noted:
• Coincident long-term loss of both on-site and off-site power for an extended period of time is a beyond-design-basis event for the primary containment on any operating nuclear power plant.
• The Mark I containment vessels appeared to have held pressure to well above the design pressure.
• The response of the reactor pressure vessel and reactor in general agree with severe accident management studies performed in the 1980s and early 1990s.
You cannot make this stuff up
.
The complete failure of all three add-on vent systems, leading to the cataclysmic hydrogen explosions of three drywall 'containment' buildings is construed as a GE success.
This would be hilarious, if children were not being poisoned throughout the Northern Hemisphere.

Bill i'm kind of taken back by your posts about the hypocrisy and folly of shills, hippies and greenies. I'm going to wager you are guilty of saying one thing and doing another. Compromise, greed, selfishness and contradiction are common human characteristics. The world has been ugly and polluted for a long time but now with the internet and twenty four hour news cycles you and everyone else are waking up and realizing just how flat and small the world really is. Shed your fear and anger and let this serve as an awakening...spread love and enlighten others with the information you have gathered. Change is possible but it wont come from this sort of jaded and cynical raving.

Wanlass
Tell me more about the Wanlass motor...where and when did you test it?
Wanlass Motors
Wanlass Motor was wound and tested in Houston. Tests were focused on transient (start) characterstics with start and run capacitors. Primary focus of tests consisted of transient electrical currents, voltages and power factors associated with starting of the Wanlass 3 phase motor.
A few 3 phase Wanlass motors remain in use for specialty applications, primarily where high torque is required and available footprint must be minimized.
Notwithstanding the technology suppression efforts of GE et al, Wanlass motor designs have been extensively tested and documented.
Similar statements can be made regarding Otto Smith motor designs.

WHY your electrical bill is so high
.
Do you want to know WHY your electrical bill is so high?
The General Electric Corporation suppressed the AC motor and generator designs of Nikola Tesla, Chris Wanlass and Otto Smith...
If you wish to read a sad tale of fraud, theft, fraud on the courts, patent infringement, suppression of technology, environmental terrorism, monopolistic practices, market manipulation, industrial espionage and fraud BY the federal courts … related to VERY efficient electrical motor designs, invented by Cravens (Chris) Wanlass …
Here are the ‘smoking guns’.
The environmental and economic consequences of this fraud committed by Jack Welch and General Electric, ranks up there with: Chernobyl, BP MACONDO, Sadaam Hussein’s torching of Kuwaiti oil and the suppression of LNG decades ago. The suppression of the compact fluorescent lamp and the Wanlass electrical motor designs, are among the most disastrous man made decisions ever made.
Compare and contrast Wanlass v Fedders (win) with Wanlass v GE (loss) court cases, which are identical in every respect, except verdict.

Suppressed
.
Wanless single phase (1?) motor/generator designs are used in home air conditioning systems. These efficient designs were provably stolen by the electrical manufacturing industry, under the ‘leadership’ of Jack Welch, then CEO of the General Electric Corporation. Wanlass electrical motor designs are otherwise, for the most part suppressed from the commercial marketplace.
This represents one of the largest economic, scientific, engineering and environmental frauds in human history. It represents the prototype by which new technologies and inventions are deliberately blocked from the commercial marketplace.

U.S. patent No. 4,063,135 issued on December 13, 1977, and covers a single-phase, alternating current, electric motor that uses a capacitor during the run operation (“single-phase, run capacitor motor”).
From reading the links, it
From reading the links, it appears that GE/Fedders was sued for infringing on a Wanless patent. In other words, GE/Fedders was actually using the invention. GE contended (successfully) that this patent was invalid because prior art existed and/or because Wanless waited 15 years to file suit.
How is GE conspiring to prevent the use of the technology if they are using it themselves?
Theft, deception and suppression
The high VA efficiency and acceptable torque of the Wanlass single phase AC motor allow the high SEER HVAC ratings in the marketplace today.
GE owned the federal appeals court, Fedders, the 2nd defendant to trial, did not. One appeals court judge swapped decisions in those two cases.
GE et al suppressed the Wanlass designs in applications other than single phase HVAC compressors and fans. The three phase designs are still effectively barred from the commercial marketplace.
How precisely is GE
How precisely is GE preventing the use of high efficiency motors? They don't hold the patents.
At this time
.
GE and Jack Welch led the effort to infringe the Wanlass patents. When confronted, the GE control over the federal appeals court 'saved their bacon'. The other asynchronous motor and HVAC companies were not so favored. They settled with Wanlass after the Fedders (GE customer) lawsuit.
GE and Jack Welch then led the asynchronous motor industry on a 20 year fraudulent campaign to discredit Chris Wanless and his various motor designs. The effects of this defamation campaign of lies remains undiminished today. The motor manufactures are still bitter about every patent infringement dime paid to Chris Wanlass.
The General Electric Corporation is no longer ACTIVELY suppressing AC electrical motor (Volt-Amp) efficiency. If memory serves, GE sold their motor division a few years back.
.
'Consultants' play a key role in market suppression
Stephen D. Umans, Ph.D., of MIT, at the behest of General Electric et al, has, in my humble opinion, played a key role in this vast fraud upon humanity.
The cost to the public, of this fraud, by now amounts to billions of dollars ($B).

Snuffing efficiency
.
A decade ago, half of GE revenues and profits were from the Turbine Generator Group. Efficient electrical motors, such as the Wanlass and Smith designs, threaten this business unit.
Thermo-electric generation efficiency improvements further threaten GE future prospects.
GE is a political power behemoth. They have long been utterly unstoppable within the USA. GE owns the federal court system, congress and the White House..
What is beneficial to the USA or even life on earth, does not matter in the least.
The Wanlass electrical motors required little winding change and were resisted ‘hammer and tong’. Learning from the example, the Otto Smith motor designs required no winding change whatsoever. Still, Dr. Smith’s designs have been obstructed from market introduction.
GE destroys electrical efficiency
.
This is a fairly detailed account, which inadvertently details the 20 year GE suppression of compact fluorescent lamp technologies. There are some cold weather applications where the old Edison incandescent bulb is best. However, the 90% inefficiency of incandescent bulbs wasted Quads of energy. Power generation equipment has long been the core business of GE. Therefore, GE has long opposed any alternatives to electrical energy efficiency.
http://home.frognet.net/~ejcov/eehammer.html
It was decided by (GE) management not to pursue the manufacture of the helical tube fluoresecnt lamp. The manufacturing setup cost would have been in the millions of dollars and such a cost at that time was not desirable. In part this was due to the fact that the manufacture of a tube into that shape seemed to be quite a challenge. The lamp itself was to be kept proprietary and so Hammer did not apply for a patent on it.
If GE really tried to
If GE really tried to suppress the CFL bulb, they did a terrible job.
"...28th of March 1980, when the Philips Company introduced the first marketed non-helical compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) at a press conferences in Amsterdam and New York"
So, it took 4 years to productize after the prototype. Not bad. Then, it took cheap Chinese manufacturing to make the helical CFL cost-effective. Hardly an example of corporate malfeasance by GE.
Suppressed since the 1960s
.
GE began suppression of the compact fluorescent lighting technology in the 1960s. The 1st GE/Hammer patent (3,453,470) was ISSUED in 1969. This would correspond to a 'render to practice' date of about 1969. http://www.freepatentsonline.com/3453470.pdfwas
Efficient electrical lights and motors do not sell GE turbine generators and/or nuclear reactor systems. Lighting and motors have historically represented about 21% and 70% of GRID load, respectively.
Correct/Retract
Agreed/retract
3453470 is a cold weather design, not a compact fluorescent.
The patent you are
The patent you are referencing is for a fluorescent tube capable of operating in low temperatures, not a CFL bulb.
RTP -1966

Correction,
Render to practice is usually 2 or 3 years before the patent is issued.
So the actual inventive step and render to practice date were likely in the 1965 to 1967 date range.

those damm hippies
Those damm hippies. I bet those hippies are suppressing WOW tech, huh?
MOX v WOW
.
Actually GE, Areva,Siemens et al, prefer MOX to WOW, to achieve increased electrical output.
Plutonium, the 'octane booster' in MOX, is one of the more deadly substances on earth.
WOW is suitable for nuclear, combustion and solar thermal applications. WOW increases power plant efficiency and as an added bonus reduces the heavy metal emissions from conventional coal. The lower 'smoke-stack' temperatures reduces the heavy metals suspended in the exhaust.
Market control and Death over life - is the GE Way
GE is not the only liar in town
.
Hippies opposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports in the late 70s and early 80s. These forerunners to the ‘greenies’ were able to kill these LNG projects on the basis of “port safety”. Nations all over the world including Nigeria and Venezuela just opened the valves and flared the gas into the atmosphere. Trillions of cubic feet of natural gas were wasted. Lots of CO2 was released into the atmosphere. Significant heat was released in the process, spanning several decades.
The ‘data’ if one dare call it that, underlying the ‘global warming’ scam was utterly fraudulent. Many professional meteorologists with advanced degrees in the subject area remain unconvinced regarding the human contribution to climate change. However, if there is general warming trend and if the human contribution is significant, then the LNG technology suppression is a major player.
The hippy LNG slam may rank up there with the Sadaam Hussein atrocities in Kuwait as eco-terrorism acts. You may recall that Sadaam intentionally dumped oil in the sea and on land as a weapon and torched the Kuwait oil fields. I personally give hippies equal billing, though the benefit of gross ignorance, can be granted in most of their cases. Zoned out stoners deserve little credibility in the public policy arena.
NIMBY deaths
.
Self-styled environmentalists and ‘greenies’ can stop patting themselves on the back.
Thousands of tons of highly radioactivc materials are atop these Fukushima reactors in the ‘spent fuel pools’. Forty years of accumulated nuclear waste is in every Mark-1 ‘containment’ structure on earth. These stockpiles of death have accumulated thanks to the ‘hippies’ preventing any form of rational, permanent underground storage.
These fissionable materials were mined from the earth and they should be returned to a suitable graveyard, in the earth. The ‘Not In My Back Yard’ (NIMBY) movement has not prevented nuclear power plant construction. They have however caused a deadly accumulation of spent fuel. The NIMBY agenda has made the world a much more dangerous place.
The Fukushima spent fuel pools have contributed significantly to the radionuclide storm and Pacific Ocean pollution.
If the spent fuel pool above Reactor-4 collapses the building and spills onto the ground, the North America may become as deadly as Northern Japan.
The building is structurally unsound and tilting, in a known high-seismic zone. The health consequences of a collapse may number on the order of 100 Million victims.
Out of sight Out of mind
I remember a nuke industry science presentation for grade school kids AND the parents back in the sixties. everyone - several hundred groups of parents and kids got a beaker with sugar and a burner for heating. To make a long story short we all got a chance to take sugar in stages to carbon. It was an analogy for what, some happy day, we could would do to change the nature of spent fuel to make it almost harmless. The early happy days of nukes and the fantasy that everything will be worked out and done correctly. No mention that that it was not real yet and would cost a fortune to do.
Years later I sat in the living room of a high school friend's father's living room in Pacific Grove. He was a geophysicist retained by the nuke industry to find a suitable place to inter the crap the glow boys wanted disappeared. The man was very frustrated and vented to us. He insisted that his research was perfect - "salt domes where the perfect repository". I naively asked him if that was for waste after it was glassification. He said no because even the containers leaked the salt would absorb and stop the leak. I thought 'no wonder his seal of approval was not believed'. And thank god. Later research showed that the water table could rise again under certain conditions (like climate change)and destroy the water table. Ah hindsight.
Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. Better that we didn't I'd say.
I think we need to build a massive earthquake, flood, bomb, etc proof structure with a research facility on top and store AND MAINTAIN the waste there in the catacombs of this temple and monument of man,s folly.

Bill...You and I may have
Bill...You and I may have our differences and tend to disagree...however, I DO respect you. Here is an EXTREMELY revealing "oral history" from Clarence Lushbaugh regarding his human radiation exposure research. I know you will find this intriguing and horrific as I did. You will notice Lushbaugh goes into pretty horrific detail about his role as what I guess you could call the world's top "forensic radiation pathologist". He seems pretty cold and calculating. The interview is peppered with strange quotes like: "One of the things that [we] did in Los Alamos, believe it or not, was to avoid purposeful irradiation of human beings. We only irradiated persons who were thought to be without any other hope of being cured of their cancerous disease" or "Then, because Los Alamos was a sequestered town and had a fence around it, there were a lot of people there that should not have been in a sequestered town and they subsequently killed themselves. We had a lot of murders and suicides that allowed me to use this thermistor probe as a way to finding the time of death. This was one of my other major accomplishments".
Anyhow...be well friend. I would love to hear your take on this.

I think I got called by
I think I got called by General Humphries, who was asked by Colonel Jim Brennan to call me in Los Alamos and ask me to come up and do the autopsies on these people. We did the autopsies on these people and established the cause of death. First, we had them laid out on a table that was made by a couple of sawhorses with a used plank door laid on it. We went in and mapped the persons. One person had struck his head and died as a result. The accident was energetic, and it threw this one person, who was apparently bringing in the bell housing that was unused.
There was another fellow who was the fellow who was pinned on the ceiling. This was the guy who was the chief of the group. He was sitting on one of the control rods, and this control rod took off in the explosion and pinned him to the ceiling of the reactor. The persons who were on the scene at the reactor felt that if they dislodged him and he fell on the reactor, they feared they might have a criticality again. They spent a long time, up to a week, cutting a hole in the containment silo, where the reactor was, and then building a beam and a net, so that they could catch this person's body and bring this person down. By that time, we had done the other two accident victims. One of the fellows, was he lifting?
This my last copypaste....I'm really shocked by what I've read.
Your question reminds me that one of the things I did [was that] I tried to determine thyroid uptake. I determined thyroid uptake there in Los Alamos, iodine131. I was able to show that the iodine that was in unbound iodine was excreted with a half-life of nine days and that the bound iodine was excreted with a half-time30 of 90 days. That was the radiological decay. We were able to use that in Oak Ridge, by the way, when I came there shortly afterwards. They had a girl who was apparently pregnant at the time that she was given radioactive iodine. She was given the usual dose of radioactive iodine, which was about 10 millicuries. Then, later on, it was discovered that at the time she had been given that larger dose of radioactive iodine, she was pregnant. At that time, we had in Oak Ridge whole body counters, which are very sensitive. (It was as sensitive, in fact, as the tank-type whole body counter that was made by Wright Langham in Los Alamos.)
A young student, whose name I've since forgotten, who was from Germany, wrote this up in an article, in which we showed that by using a very small, safe dose on that infant, we could do a thyroid study. We used something like one-hundredth of the dose. It was like one-tenth of a millicurie. We were able to show that the infant did not have a thyroid gland and that it would need thyroid injections for the rest of its life in order to keep it from becoming a cretin, so the little boy's life was saved.
FISHER: In other words, the woman was injected before it was known she was pregnant for a thyroid condition?
LUSHBAUGH: Right, exactly.
FISHER: And the fetus, the baby, you determined that it would not be born with a thyroid, because the radiation had destroyed it.
LUSHBAUGH: We determined that it didn't have a thyroid.
FISHER: Because it had been destroyed by the iodine.
LUSHBAUGH: Yes.
FISHER: Your determination was that it would need thyroid supplement for the rest of its life.
