Perspective on 500 -3000 becquerels per kilogram of cesium in ara cha

In reading this article on Japan's contamination of ara cha(tea leaves) I wonder how many more times worse Japan's levels are than ucb brawns highest measurement of cesium.if u think we have it bad read this article and realize how screwed Japan is anyhow can someone help explain how much lower levels are in the states. Thanks

However, Shizuoka Gov. Heita Kawakatsu has already announced his prefecture would not follow the government's instruction. "We won't conduct inspections on ara cha," he said.June 4 2011

No, I think you're in the ballpark...

...Though, remember: According to that estimated cesium deposition map put out by the IAEA a couple weeks back (the one that tried to assess levels out to, if memory serves, 80km from Fukushima Dai-ichi... I referenced it here: http://www.nuc.berkeley.edu/node/4151) the MAXIMUM levels may well be far, far higher.

There's no doubt about it: Japan's in far, FAR greater danger than we can even dream of being at the moment (and that's just what's in the soil... Nevermind what all is saturating the water, the air, the food, and every other damned thing over there). But I'm not prepared to be complacent about the risks to US, ESPECIALLY with regard to the food supply. Russian roulette is a pretty friggin' bad idea whether there's one round in the gun, or five... It's just that Japan is currently playing with a fully loaded clip.

"Radiation levels haven't exceeded the daily limit, so why bother? My husband worked at the Fukushima No 2 plant until the day after the tsunami and he hasn't bothered undergoing a radiation check. We eat the local vegetables and our kids play outside for as long as they like."

At what point, do you suppose, do the potential losses in revenues to companies, industries, entire nations, make it no longer financially viable to POISON, INJURE AND KILL THEIR CPNSUMERS, and START PROTECTING THEM?
