class action suit ?

Can we file a class action suit against TEPCO, GE, et all ?

TEPCO for false record keeping and lies, and hiring mafia to dump their crap in places we don't know about.
GE for selling faulty reactors.
All the other criminals involved in this criminal act !

Don't we have rights to clean water, air, and soil ? The whole world is not a dumping ground for nuclear crap.

damages

We need a lawyer who is connected to a law firm that can bury GE.

Good luck.

Good luck.

luck

has nothing to do with it. Who you know has everything to do with it. A close family member put Shell Chemical permanently out of business in the US. That party is currently engaged, there must be others...

Who do we know ?

The way I see it, every person in the northern hemisphere has a right to be a party to the class action suit... I am guessing maybe 4-5 billion people? Everyone of us has been (or will be) put at risk of premature death due to either inhaling or ingesting contaminated air, food, or water. I am not even including the people of Japan in this, because as far as I am concerned they have and will endure so much more than populations in North America, Europe, or other parts of Asia - they should be compensated, too, but in a much bigger way... proportional to their risk/exposure.

We have has this increased risk forced upon us, and there is little we can do to mitigate the impacts. If Yablakov's estimates from the Chernobyl experience are accurate, then many people in the norther hemisphere (in addition to people in Japan) will die prematurely as a result of this accident. I think EVERYONE of us who has been exposed has a right to be compensated for the increased, shared, statistical risk that has been forced upon us. Hmmmm 5 billion or so people @ say $100 each... That alone should succeeed in bankrupting TEPCO if the cleanup efforts don't.

ALL companies should be held responsible for their actions and their impact to people and the environment. If they know that their profits and survival might be at risk, perhaps they would behave more responsibly and ethically.

OK, rant over.

$100 wouldn't buy me

$100 wouldn't buy me off.

The nuke power/weapon industry will give us zero.

In return, it is our civic duty to continue to give them the bad PR they so richly deserve. I know I'm up for it, as long as I'm breathing (these new "background" levels). I regret not learning about this before Fukushima, but fool me twice? I think not. Keep trying to ignore us, we aren't going to go away.

My guess...

Just wait. I believe that there will be lawsuits over this.

My guess is that they will come from food producers who can prove that the Fukushima radiation tainted their products, and that the failure of TEPCO, et al to notify them in a truthful, accurate and timely manner prevented the plaintiffs from taking available preventive and remedial actions that could have mitigated the damages to their products.

Lets do it....

op here.

I wish we could do it. Make them dig deep into their wallets. I am sure they are buying safe food and water for their loved ones. How are we supposed to cope ? How about the Japanese ?

I think all companies should be responsible for their actions, and lack thereof.
