Links To West Coast State Radiation Monitoring
Here are the links to the west coast state health dept web sites for
radiation monitoring. They are all winding down.
One interesting note was the comment regarding beta gross count on the
Washington site. (copied immediately below) This is the only time I've
seen any agency say at what level they would take protective action based
on beta gross count. It certainly puts the 100+ CPM spikes we've seen on
the EPA web site in perspective.

"The chart shows radiation measures known as “gross beta,” a term that refers to all radioactive materials that emit beta radiation. Gross beta measurements are used because they give us the fastest indication of any change in radiation levels. They’re measured in “counts per minute.”
All monitoring stations have continually shown normal background levels of radiation since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The annual average measurement at our Tumwater air monitor for 2010 was 25 counts per minute. The levels would have to be at least hundreds of thousands of times higher than these readings before state health officials would recommend protective actions."

So, is Washington State saying that they would wait until the beta gross count got
to at least 2.5 million (25 CPM x 100,000) before doing anything? I haven't seen CPM
measurements in any of the areas of Japan. So, I don't know if that number is realistic
or not.
Perhaps the BRAWM team can shed some light on this?
