Article : Report
Nearly 3,000 evacuees living in shelters in three of the northeastern Japan prefectures worst affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami have been taken to hospital by ambulance, according to a Kyodo News survey released Tuesday.
At least 2,816 evacuees suffering from stress and poor hygienic conditions were rushed to hospitals from shelters in coastal parts of the Pacific prefectures Iwate, Fukushima and Miyagi, the survey of 15 local fire departments showed.
My opinion: Stress and poor hygienic conditions can make you sick, but the reality is radiation damage to the fragile human body can make you sick enough to go the hospital. The report mentions nothing about radiation illness. How will the hospital treat this many people ? These people must not be getting the care they need both from the shelters, Japanese Gov., and radiation protection, fresh water and food.

Not what it seems
If you read the entire article, it's a SURVEY. NOT a news report of
just under 3000 (actual number was 2,816) people being rushed to the
hospital at the same time. The monthly average is around 1800, according
to the article. There are apparently 90,000 people in shelters in the 3
prefectures they talk about. So, 3% of the shelter population has been
rushed to a number of different hospitals in the various shelter area.

Okay
Oaky thanks for the clarification. The report is misleading.
But I still feel they need better care in the shelters.
I agree with you completely
No problem. It's just a headline to catch people.
And I completely agree with you about taking care of the people.
I can't imagine how much money is being spent on corporate fluff
when there is a REAL need of support for these displaced people.
I really hope that Japan shows that it's a caring and givning
society.
Of course not!
Do you really think they would mention radiation if they can't even report the proper numbers to their own people? Everything happening in Japan is simply being hidden from those living there. Watch this and you'll understand how:

Great video, thanks! I don't
Great video, thanks!
I don't think it really relates to the article on the OP, though. And please be sure to check the coverage Japanese newspapers are doing of the crisis before saying things like "Everything happening in Japan is simply being hidden from those living there". I don't know if you realize that the vast majority of all the articles being posted at enenews, for example, come from Japanese sources, and they only represent a fraction that is being translated into English.
