The law and testing any lawyers respond

Would it be legal to have food products independently tested by a private lab if I released information that damaged the producer would I be liable?can I test any product and release data pertaining to the tested product .I have noticed berkleys tests do not specify production or company name or even location of farm is this why it's against the law?

I have been thinking the same thing. So, I am with you on this idea of independent testing.
