May 4th cesium measurement for Japan shows a spike !
...after leveling off for about 12 days! Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization graph: http://www.bfs.de/de/ion/imis/ctbto_aktivitaetskonzentrationen_caesium.gif Now, if this isn't a reason to CONTINUE monitoring, I don't know what is.

This is not a significant
This is not a significant spike. Notice the y axis is at logarithmic scale (every tick mark is a factor of 10 higher).. The change in this measurement is 100-1000 times less than the initial spikes. However, the change looks statistically significant relative to the jitter just before, but I doubt we will see this level of change on the West Coast.
We won't know unless you monitor it...
so please keep monitoring! :)
YES!
Yes, you are correct! It IS a reason to continue to monitor. Any other conclusion drawn is just irresponsible and immoral.

testing
There is a chance of a major release of radioactive particles on May 8th, if this person is right:
http://ex-skf.blogspot.com/2011/05/fukushima-i-nuke-plant-may-8-release-...
It seems to me, while with current graphs the amount of radiation in the air seems to be trending downwards from that peak around 3/28, this situation is far from over, and we certainly can't trust the Japanese gov't and the nuclear industry to keep us informed of the plant status and releases.
While we may read much lower levels in the air here, I am concerned about a persist build-up in water, soil, etc. from persistent increased lower level exposure.
So, add my thanks to the team for the testing that you've done, and I definitely also look forward to continued test results!
