Radioactive materials from Fukushima to reach U.S. within few yrs: IAEA
VIENNA, May 6 - (Kyodo)

The International Atomic Energy Agency said Thursday radioactive substances leaked into the Pacific Ocean from the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in Japan are expected to reach the west coast of the United States and Canada within one or two years.

In context, consider: "We

In context, consider:

"We now know from declassified documents that in 1945, in the rush to produce plutonium for the initial atomic bombs detonated in 1945, some 555,000 trillion picocuries of radioactive iodine were released into the biosphere from the Hanford nuclear weapons complex in Washington."

This a very interesting document and absolutely essential reading for anyone with any interest on this topic.

It is not in the perceived

It is not in the perceived self-interest of multinational corporations, or the government and the media that serve them, that we stop and become aware of our anguish with the way things are. This de facto censorship or taboo is quite an accomplishment since none of us, in our hearts, is free of sorrow for the suffering of other beings. None of us is indifferent to the dangers that threaten our planet, or unburdened by fear for the generations to come. Yet it is not easy to give credence to this anguish in a culture that still enjoins us to "keep smiling" and "go shopping."

thank you Japan, for

thank you Japan, for jeaperdizing our health. What right do you have?
Who is going to bring the responsible parties to trial and even then-- damage will be done.

Please stop embarrassing

Please stop embarrassing your fellow Americans. Japan would not even have nukes if not for the USA, and what happened in Japan can just as well happen anywhere that has nuclear power. Rather than lash out at poor Japan, why don't you help do something about the over 100 precarious reactors in the USA right now?

You'd rather Hitler got them

You'd rather Hitler got them first, or Stalin, asswipe?

All that insane nuclear

All that insane nuclear testing tortured our formerly pristine biosphere.

I say put the plant

I say put the plant operators to death for crimes against humanity.

The Japanese are swine for dumping millions of gallons of radioisotope-contaminated water far off into the ocean far from their shore. The Japanese do not deserve any sympathy for not controlling the situation in a more honorable way. Just wait until the next generation of babies are born. you don't speak for Americans. I am pissed at the Japanese and I do not believe they deserve the respect we have been giving them. Remember the Rape of Nanking.

You should be pissed at a whole lot more than the japanese government and private officials that haven't acted as aggressively as they should have.

You should be angry at all the nuclear regulatory agencies, and also all the other governments that have not expressed public outrage and called for a public accounting. Let's see, what governments have done that to date?????

Something about calling the kettle blcak perhaps...

We are talking phisically. Biologicaly the max bioacumulation in big and predatory fish is only SIX MONTHS LATER the sink. And the fish can arrive to USA and Canada before the elements.

Hey, at least they saved

Hey, at least they saved face. That must count for something.

"We are talking phisically.

I don't understand this statement. Can someone clarify?
