(BRAWM: WE Sincerely hope YOU do not stop testing! (Posted by Bill)

I am hoping you will let us know what is in the caves and when we can expect new milk, topsoil, grass, strawberries and spinach tests.

I really solemnly pray that this site continues to be opetrating and that testing continues to get reporting.

My own read of your data as well as all the other data I can find is that things are "levelling off" (no accumulations of NEW contamination) BUT that bioaccumulation continues and is in the soil and plants, grass and thus in milk.

It is still discouraging in the extreme that there are NO results practically for Strontium 90 anywhere (with a few tiny exceptions) as the prospect of the combination of cesium and strontium (or either oen alone) bioaccumulating from Fukushima is truly frightening.

I also implore all the posters here to stay tuned, post, continue to seek results and to discuss them and ask questions of BRAWM so that at least WE get some small answers and have a place to deal with our concerns.

ANYTHING IN THE CAVES BRAWM? Any results we can expect? And when?

Thanks for all you do. I for one am always checking for new results and it is a little disheartening that the overall trend of interest is possibly declining along with the pace and urgency of sampling produce and milk, grass and soil --- because for peace of mind WE NEED MORE RESULTS!

NILU Site down

As I write this I have to take a deep breath and calm down because my hands are shaking so bad..............here goes. The NILU(Norwegian Institute for Air Research) has up to recently been monitoring radioactive fallout forcasts globally. The NILU/Flexpart site has been shut down, you can log on but there is no info........it only says"thank you for your interest".There is a back door link to it,and it is alot worse than anyone can imagine, readings practically go off the charts in North America. The first part of the link to the site starts with "Zardoz".What is Zardoz ? It is a movie made in the early 70's starring Sean Connery portraying a post nuclear world decimated by fallout. When you get onto the site, open the files with large kilobyte files, the smaller files appear to empty.I am not a nuclear scientist, but when I opened some of the files for C-137,I-131 and related fallout forecasts.........I am almost freakin' puked. This is bad......really really bad.A good reason why the NILU site is not giving out any info anymore.Which gov't shut it down ? That is not important at this point.Anyone reading this,I am pleading........no I am begging you to pass onto everyone. Here is the site info.......God help us all. http://zardoz.nilu.no/~flexpart/fpinteractive/plots/?C=M;O=D Pass it on.Peace.

NILU disclaimers, again

I hope I can put your fears at ease about the shutdown of the NILU simulations:

(1) They were not actually making measurements of the plume, but performing plume forecasts. I'm not sure that everyone realizes this.

(2) The assumptions that went into the radiation releases reflected a worst-case scenario. They assumed huge, constant releases from the reactors. They used the same very high release rate for the entire time the website was operating.

(3) If any large releases had occurred after late March, we would have been seeing them in our air measurements. We are hardly able to detect anything anymore in the air.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem that NILU has communicated their reasons about why they would have stopped. But here's my best guess about why they would stop: After two months of plume forecasts, and clearly no further large releases from Japan, they saw little reason to devote their computer resources to maintaining that page. It is not a cover-up; please look at our air measurements for proof.

For more info about NILU, we've made numerous comments on interpreting the NILU simulations, such as "A few disclaimers" and "A note on interpreting EURAD and NILU plume forecasts".

Japan Releases

I was running a very simple Geiger Ludlum Model 3 counter with a 44-9 GM in central Colorado in the days and weeks after the events in Japan. I did see the background count increase 10-20% from day to day. On the 23 of April 2011 we had a small snow shower and the reading doubled from 80-85 to 160-200 counts per min. during the shower. This was very crude measurement perhaps some of the reading may have been from thorium fallout from coal fired plants in china or US. From my understating of the winds most of Japan fallout would have passed further north and into Canada.

Most of the heavier materials would have not gone too far. The issue may be tritium and other isotopes in the sea water moved into the gulf of Alaska fishing area then past California.

I't is odd that so much is spent on monitoring and the equipment is not working? Then EPA is adjusting minimum levels upwards as the hot cloud is drifting east... And no one can figure out radiation levels from airport scanners. Don't worry....

Thanks for clearing that up

Thanks for clearing that up Mark.Keep up the good and invaluable work.

Yeah right then,go back to

Yeah right then,go back to your Dancing with The Stars or American Idol. The info is there for you to see,go back to sleep and continue to live in denial. The American Gov't has done an exceptional job of dumbing you down. :)

Have u emaled nilu

Fear sells things too what u got against American idol anyway.

The reply "What u got

The reply "What u got against American idol anyway" speaks volumes about yourself.I hope that you can see the truth which is like a freight train coming down the tracks. The info is there, you can decide to look at it or not.It can be seen as fear if you like. The facts are there,it is clear that it is too much for you to take in.

Is this data sourced

I won't look at a fake map I will get my soil tested I taken have steps to protect myself .ucant freak out over a map if it's not from a reputable source.

Take a breath

Ok have u contacted them to see why other parts of site are fine such as.

Ps we all die sometime

The comment "P.S. we all die

The comment "P.S. we all die sometime" makes it quite clear you have no wish to see the truth. The site is not down, the 'Flexpart-Fukuishima Products' are not there anymore.Go back to your finals, and try not see the truth. It is clear it's too much for you. ;(

When will there be more results?

please?

someone at BRAWM respond?

or are you guys done with this?

Nope, we are not done with

Nope, we are not done with our testing. We'll keep testing until we cannot see radioisotopes below our detectable limits. Currently we have air filters running, as well as some other food and milk samples. Reports will be out soon.

It's finals period, so everyone has been extra busy.

Mark [BRAWM Team Member]

great! thanks!

appreciate the response. things were kinda quiet there!

Up in Canada,the

Up in Canada, the CFIA(Canadian Food Inspection Agency) is apparently telling the public they are monitoring the situation here.I talked to a rep. in Edmonton,Alberta yesterday, and by the sound of her voice she was quite concerned about the lack of info that is coming from the Canadian gov. on both the federal and provincial levels.I gave some links to the Norwegian Air Institute for Air Research(NILU)to her,she almost had to whisper into the phone as she was at work in a govt. office.I have tried to contact the Nuclear Physics depts. at both University of Alberta and University of British Columbia, both with no luck.Thank you for trying to do the right thing gang, and keep up the good................PS If they come knocking on the door,do'nt let them in ! !

Up in Canada...

Thank you to the person who posted above. This is all so crazy. Who are they "protecting?" Eventually, the truth will come out...

Canada--you need to be testing!

You're welcome.Crazy is an

You're welcome.Crazy is an understatement,but I know how you feel.This is like a really bad dream...........except we're not dreaming.Wide awake.

thank you!!!

and yes, please keep testing! Really looking forward to new and continued milk results, as well as topsoil and other foods.

Thank you to everyone at

Thank you to everyone at BRAWM!
Not only have you done tests that have not been done elsewhere, but you have engaged in conversations with us. Helping us to understand and make some sense of this tragic situation.
I can only imagine how many people come here everyday looking for REAL information and thoughtful discussion.
As a mother of two young children here in Portland. I have been looking to your test results daily, to try and make the best decisions, and keep my family as safe as possible.
I'm sure this has taken up a ton of time for all of you, but we are so thankful you are doing this. And truly hope that you will continue.
THANK YOU!

My sentiments exactly. Your

My sentiments exactly. Your explanations and willingness to share your information and data is so needed and appreciated. Thank you and please continue!

Yes, please don't stop your

Yes, please don't stop your mointoring--it is so important for all of us.

I also continue to check

I also continue to check here several times per day :) I second all of Bill's sentiments, and even though I'm in Seattle, this lower West Coast data is all I have left. I'm almost 6 months pregnant with a 4-year-old son, and am avidly interested in the food chain and topsoil contamination.

Many thanks to BRAWM!

(Side note: even though things seem to be winding down--thankfully--I would bet good money that this won't be the end of emergent situations in Japan, ones that impact the rest of the globe.)

I agree. Please continue

I agree. Please continue testing!

UC Berkely Radiation Testing

You guys are providing a service that NO ONE else seems to be in the US. You have my undying gratitude for keeping us aware of what every other organization seems to be hiding.
Thank you.

please keep testing

Please keep testing. Your work is greatly appreciated.
Are you not planning to test for 3 months. We are really hoping for at least weekly testing.

PLEASE KEEP TESTING

I want to second, third and fourth this request. PLEASE, you are all we have since the EPA has decided that this is a "non-event." The best that we may get with the EPA is a retrospective that will only be of value as a "lesson learned."

I can "read" it now...."In hindsight, so-and-so from the EPA admits that the May 2011 decision to stop additional testing of water, milk and other food products in the US, including those products that come from some of America's most agriculturally productive regions, and which were most affected by the radiation plumes, was probably premature given the ongoing nature of the radioactive emissions from Fukushima..."

I have seen this movie before...actually, it is on a perpetual loop!

We rely on your testing

and appreciate everything you've done.

We'd greatly appreciate you continuing!

Please continue testing

Thanks so much for your continued testing. The EPA will discontinue many testing sites apparently and this leaves those of us on the West Coast feeling pretty much abandoned as far as information about isotopes goes. Thanks for all your patience and the education you offer us with this site.

radiation testing

I'm hoping you will continue monitoring and testing for radiation. Our government seems to just want to dismiss the whole thing and that scares me. It send the message that things are so messed up they don't even want to deal with their citizens. Please keep up your work and continue to let us know what the levels are. I know we can't avoid everything, but I have kids and I will do my best to avoid certain foods, detox and keep growing as much as I can covered. Thank you for your efforts- you are making the difference!!
