Radnet data Riverside, Ca
Check out Riverside, Ca.... Levels steadily increasing last few days with anincreased spike today. I really wish I understood what this means....if it's due to radioactive activity or other causes??? Should we be concerned??

You really need to look at a
You really need to look at a collection of monitoring stations
to really get the complete picture. Looking at one station can
freak you out if that *one* station gets weird. I've provided
links to several stations at the bottom. But, while Riverside
looks scarey, the other stations do not show such a pronounced
and steady increase. So, it looks like there's something up
with that station.
Plus, the Beta Gross Count Rate (shown below with the rest of
the data for the Riverside station) is currently showing as only
15 CPM. Not 100+.
Pick your favorite monitor from the map in the following link
to get the data as shown below:

Gamma Energy Range 2 Gross(CPM): 1728
Gamma Energy Range 3 Gross(CPM): 947
Gamma Energy Range 4 Gross(CPM): 301

You can generate graphs for any station and date range via the
following link (it's limited to 400 entries. So, keep queries
to around 2 weeks worth of data and you'll be ok):

Thank u so much for trying
Thank u so much for trying to explain this to me....it is really confusing!!!I did check the surrounding monitors and ur right San bernardino and Anaheim did not show anything as pronounced. I was concerned maybe something more local to riverside was causing the rise. This is so stressful...I'm starting to think maybe I shouldn't even check the data considering I don't understand what I'm looking at and it gets me all freaked out :)
No Problem
And you are right. It is very confusing :-)
But, if you think about it, it's very unlikely for anything to
sneak by the other 4 stations and not have them show an increase
of some sort. Some of the EPA stations are very flakey. Some
to the point of being useless for what we are trying to look at.
If you look at many of the
If you look at many of the CA stations, it is clear that something is up.
For comparing in a single area, the EPA itself says that you can't compare one station to another because of local conditions.
You can compare stations in the same area
What the EPA means is that you can't look at one station
and expect it to be at the same level (CPM count) as another.
Meaning, there is no standard "normal" CPM level that you can
expect to see across *all* stations. 50 CPM may be normal for
Denver, but it's 3 times what normal is in San Francisco.
You can however look at a number of stations in the same area
to see if they are all reporting a steady increase. Regardless
of what their individual CPM levels are. So, if something is
"moving through the area", you should see all monitors in close
proximity to each other showing an increase.
I don't see any clear indication of something moving through
the Los Angeles area.
I think the plume that has
I think the plume that has been passing through since last week here in Oakley, Sacramento is going south. I can only repeat myself but I did see very strange cobalt blue clouds last week, never seeh anything like this before and the sky was white, not blue, not grey, I assume that comes from the sun being reflected by particles. The plume is heading south.
It is probably mostly xenon according to the Nilu forecast which I have found to be very accurate.
Assuming that xenon hopefully is not too dangerous, (although for me last week, I had sudden itching of my skin whenever outside, very strange, never had that before either), you should be hopefully fine.
We will never know the truth though. I know that Beryllium also a gas (correct me if I am wrong) causes lung cancer, I personally believe, xenon will do the same.
Beryllium
Beryllium is a metal. Radioactive Be-7 is created cosmogenically. There is a measurable amount of it around all the time, see the BRAWM air testing results.
You are understandably concerned about all that is going on, but from everything I have read on this forum and others, I am very sure that Xenon is not something we need to be concerned about it.
