The plant would be used to power a desalination site in order to solve the water crisis befalling the central valley.

Faust lives and is well.
Another nuclear power plant in an earthquake prone Pacific state, lining the Ring of Fire. Another agreement made with the devil. If the Japanese had it to do again, Faust would be turned down. Or, maybe not. Tepco stocks just went up.
P.S., I have read that the Pacific West Coast of the United States is the only area on the Ring of Fire not to yet experience a major catastrophic earthquake. Faust lives and is well.

I can not fathom the absolute arrogance of such a plan.We have so many brilliant people in this country. Why are we wasting our natural talents?
Our treasure as a people is our "Yankee Ingenuity"! I know that we can rise to the the occasion and find a better way to power desalination.
The 400 nuclear power plants around the world supply only 7% of the world's total energy demands. That's astounding considering the cost of blowing ourselves up into oblivion.
We can't afford teachers,fireman,policemen and other service workers here in California, but we can afford a billion or more for another nuclear power plant?And that's not counting the cost of a Fukushima style nuclear catastrophe,which in earthquake country is not far fetched.
You know it's going to come out of our pockets.We foot the bill for these plants.
I don't want a solution 20 years down the road.I want it now because the alternative is unthinkable.

Yes, I've seen that, going down I5. Spraying like mad with little microdrops in 95+ degree weather. I wonder how much actually reached the soil.
They can stand to learn some water conservation techniques for farming. Maybe change crops. They can just wait on that nuclear plant.
They want to call it the Clean Energy Park and "company might propose a non-electricity-generating facility in an effort to sidestep a California ban on new nuclear power plants."
That's right, we BANNED any more of the @#$%^&* things in CA so they think they can find a way around it? In one of the most fertile agricultural states in the Union if not the world? Even a HINT of a leak will destroy our reputation and with it our markets for rice, produce, wine, and everything else. Are they INSANE? Who do I call, donate to, protest in front of??
