Is Obama investigating the right thing?
Obama anounced today that he is investigating the reason for gas prices going up.
I ask the question, should he be investigating gas prices or should he investigate whether our food is safe after the nuclear accident and what we need to do with our nuclear industry?

I won't vote for him again.
I won't vote for him again. I don't want to vote for somebody who kept silent on this.

He needs to do both
Frankly I am happy he is investigating the oil price gouging (sp?)
But I suspect he has a lot of folks telling him the nukes are safe and the radiation is safe and he is not informed enough and is in too much of a bubble to know the truth (a lot on his plate cleaning up the Bush messes in the world).
The fact is that most folks know so little about the dangers of low level radiation (even scientists here admit that) that they must depend on what the media and industry and scientists tell them and the science is, for the most part, owned by industry globally.
Keep in mind that the nuclear industry is the most powerful industry in the world BECAUSE it produces the most deadly weapons and radiological elements (radionuclides) in the world. They OWN wall street (or are joined at the hip) and their power in governments globally is second to none.
Obama in reality has disappointed me on many fronts and this is one of them, but I can only imagine if the other way more corporate party were in power.
In the good news, today, a nuke company in Texas has cancelled a new nuke; Italy is cancelling one and Germany iss shutiing them ALL down. The money to build new nukes is drying up and going away and TEPCO is surfing into bankruptcy on its radionuclide seas. NO ONE can afford to deal with crises like these and NO population will allow this industry to continue as it has. Investors will not want the risks. BUT the war industries will keep promoting them and making money as long as they have the radionculides in their spent fuel pools and weapons can be produced using their waste. But remember the ENERGY companies ARE the war industries that are depopulating the planet with war, disease, pollution, cancer deaths, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, GM food etc etc etc.
So it is a GOOD thing that Obama wants an investigation of the oil shell game. REMEMBER Carter - the oil companies DESTROYED him with gas prices rising - which gave us Reagan (not to mention the arms/$$$ for hostages deals with Iran, another one in bed with big oil)
Yeah, Obama is disappointing at times. But he is no Bush and a hell of a lot better than the alternative. I think his pronuke stuff is almost all bluff to appease the folks who believe the lies about nukes as green and clean and good investments for the future. NO ONE is really buying that now , though.
as for the health risks etc --- I am sure he has people advising him and has at least got the EPA monitors KIND of up to date on what is hitting us (despite the republican evisceration of that agency over the last ten years --- and they want MORE cuts in monitoring too)
Yeah I wish Obama was more vocal on this (or more informed or not deluded or not coy or something)but I know he is smart enough to know there is not much he can do. The sh*t is everywhere and if he BELIEVES it is safe he is no different from some of the BRAWM folks (the kind of folks he probably trusts on these matters).
The US military is there helping trying to stop the thing from getting worse - which is a good thing -- and his silence hurts folks like us who want him to step up on this too. But he cannot stop the rain or the contamination and I doubt he knows what else to do but just try to keep the economy calm (even if it kills some of us, whether he is aware of that or not).
Yes, well said.

Good to hear
It's good to hear that a nuke project is being cancelled in Texas. I hope it's the one that TEPCO is involved in. Heard about it on Bill O'Reilly's show a few weeks ago.
I am also disappointed that
I am also disappointed that Obama isn't doing more on this, and several other, fronts, but honestly I don't know what his options would be. Our government is as much a figurehead as the Queen of England, and at least he and Michelle voice their support of middle class over corporations...but his hands are bound and there was never any doubt in my mind that it would be any different. I voted for him and will again.
totally agree. Obama has
totally agree. Obama has disappointed me deeply. No word about Fukushima.
The news are repeating old stories. Entertainment channels talk about Hollywood gossip and show realtos showing couples homes so they can choose between 3. I am vomiting right now.
And Obama? No word about what really matters.
And to be clear: I was for Obama when he started.
His reaction or shall I see, his showing no interest in discussing Fukushima disgusts me.
We are in unknown territory,
We are in unknown territory, was just a matter of time.
