Is anyone avoiding beef, chicken and eggs? (other than vegans, vegatarians etc)

I live in CA and we're eliminating dairy products, but what about the meat and eggs? Any thoughts on levels of cesium 137 contamination?

i refuse the unspeakable

i refuse the unspeakable horrors of factory farming. i give up on any animal foods. its best anyway, both for animals and for my own health.

Grow my own plants from scratch. Start plants from seed. This is what I will do.

i wonder how to afford a greenhouse and where to find soil for it thats organic and free of radiation. thats a puzzle to work on.
meanwhile, i think the anti-radiation benefits of vegs are worth considering.

clean soil: look for bags

clean soil: look for bags of composted manure, etc it's all on sale right now. and was all done up pre fuke for the spring gardening season.

i have the same thought about growing from scratch

but then what soil, what water and where (must be shielded from rain)?

i read that in a japanese

i read that in a japanese town near fuke that the cesium had only penetrated 5cm into the soil. here i bet it would be much less. remediation may be as simple as scraping off the top layer of soil and covering it until the fallout stops. that means no outdoor gardening this year but i wasnt going to anyways, were you?

then i have to wonder if and

then i have to wonder if and when radiation will get into well water, even if i had a greenhouse and pure soil. the puzzle gets more difficult.
still, im going to keep eating vegetables, maybe not leafy ones for awhile, that i get at the market.

We can filter our water and

We can filter our water and grow sprouts inside our home to provide vegetable nourishment. I saw a website called "Girl Eats Bugs" and this pretty gal made a grub taco and said it was delicious and nutritious. They're easy to grow she said or you can get them at your local pet shop. I wish I didn't shudder at this idea.
