EPA Historical I-131 Levels In Calif. Milk
Ok. So, we have an I-131 reading of 1.14 Bq/L on the milk with a best
by date of 4/21. Why was there I-131 in Calif. milk even before Chernobyl?
The EPA historical I-131 data for milk in Calif. shows a high of 1.39 Bq/L
(Los Angeles) back in Jul of 1986 (Chernobyl was April 1986). But, the EPA
data also shows a level of 0.814 Bq/L (Sacramento) back in April of
***1982***. Any idea why there was this level of I-131 4 years before
Chenobyl?

Re: Santa Susana
Just a correction. Santa Susana is not near San Diego. Santa Susana is located in Simi Valley, which is 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

Sacramento also had a poorly-functioning nuclear reactor operating at that time (Rancho Seco.) Maybe it was acting up.
Chernobyl also had a partial
Chernobyl also had a partial meltdown of the number 1 reactor in 1982.
And the levels in the late 70's?
Ok. Let's say that Rancho Seco is the cause for the Sacramento levels.
And Chernobyl is the cause for the 1982 readings. What about the levels
of 0.3+ Bq/L as far away as Los Angeles in '78 & '79?
China didn't stop
China didn't stop atmospheric weapons tests until 1980.
