PLEASE everyone who visits this site THANK the BRAWM team/Rain levels going down! (Posted by Bill)

I simply want this thread to be a place where folks can express their gratitude.

I, for one, have been completely woried about levels of radionuclides in rain, milk, water, food, etc for the past month.

FINALLY there is this excellent news that all the levels in the rain tested are going down and rather dramatically. I do expect some uptick in milk and produce perhaps as the prior rains at higher levels are metabolized by the cows and absorbed into veggies and mushrooms, etc, BUT at least I know it seems like the worst exposures are over and diminishing and the dilution of these radionuclides (sadly globally) is causing the levels to be far reduced. Milk will hopefuly be completely safe again in a matter of some weeks (at least re: raioiodine) and the fact is that the radioesium, due to its half life, is going to be ubiquitous --- but a healthy diet and intelligent monitoring by BRAWM will hopefully allow us to learn where the greatest risks may be in terms of bioaccumulation and remediation measures that can be taken.

I for one, am extremely grateful to you folks who have actually done the entire world a service by being forthright, tolerant, responsive, honest, careful, admitting of errors when they occured, pretty blunt about your opinions and...

even though I have bitched and moaned along with others that I feel your risk assessments or models and comparisons of external to internal exposure risks with respect to these radioactive contaminants is one I think is flawed, I have NEVER doubted the integrity of the results primarily because of your candor and responsiveness.

THANK YOU.

We all owe you a LOT.

and this is coming from an ardent long time opponent of nuclear power plants and their radionuclide emissions (which are ongoing in all of our US plants).

You have at least put my mind at ease and ith today's results givn me the most peace of mind I have had since this crisis started five weeks ago. Peace to you all and prosperity!

THANK YOU BRAWM! Let us know

THANK YOU BRAWM! Let us know where to donate if it helps you guys/gals continue your work. We come here every day to try to figure out what is really happening. Your contribution to the people of the United States (and probably the world too) is so important and so appreciated!

Thanks to the BRAWM Team

Possibly a Little Pre-mature?

I am surprised at the Original Post and most of the comments that follow. What is the old saying again? Don't count your chicks before they hatch. There are still lots of rotten eggs at Fukushima, this is not over yet. Radiation is still being emitted at high levels and the wind direction and rain-outs have a great deal to do with the miniscule area that the Berkley’s staff is testing. These levels will fluctuate in different areas.

Remember, Berkley is only reporting on what they "see" at the time, and conclusions are based on various factors.

I am glad you feel at ease, and I am glad this form is here, but I do not share your sudden sense of security, sorry.

JFP

I am not really at ease, but a little more at ease than I was...

I realize (and stated) that I expect to see an uptick in radiocesium in milk, spinach, mushrooms, etc (when they finally post new results).

And I realize that it is not over. BUT I am very grateful to the universe that at least the most recent rain levels of radionuclides are going down and very grateful for BRAWM for following up and getting us their test results as quickly as they can manage.

There is really NO ONE else doing this so I wanted us all to express our gratitude for that - their hard work and data --- as an encoruagement to them to keep the data coming and get it to us as quyickly as possible. Also I want the public and UC system to know just how critically important this work is so that they can get more support, grants, donations whatever.

I am still much more worried than I want to be because I am a parent and a human being in a world that the corporations are raping and contiminating and radiation in our kids' food and bodies is just scary as hell.

But reduced levels are something to be grateful for as is all the hard work that the BRAWM team is doing.

Let's just hope and/or pray that the releases in Japan diminish and stop as soon as possible so that all the measurements go below minimum undetectable levels. We all know the stuff is out there, but at least we know it is gradually diminishing and will be less of something to worry about IF the releases can be stopped.

Yes, thanks but...

It's not over until "the fat lady sings". But she will not be fat when it's over because she will have had to eliminate half her diet just to reduce the amount of radiation she ingests.

I am very thankful we have this resource and I hope it continues as long as their are detectable levels.

Future plans

At some point in the not-too-distant future, I plan on writing a letter to the University administration praising UCBNE's performance during this crisis. Before mailing it I will post it here on their Public Forum, allowing others to comment on and endorse it --- sort of like a petition, but in a positive sense.

I would appreciate any suggestions as to content, particularly specific recognitions of BRAWM staff / initiatives and the impact their efforts had on you during this time.

More and many thanks!

As others have said, you've done a huge community and global service and deserve tremendous credit for your hard work. Do let us followers know how we can ever be of help to you all.

Yes! Thank you so much

Yes! Thank you so much BRAWM team for all the work you are doing! My family is truly grateful for the data you are collecting and providing to the public. And thank you for providing a forum for public discussion, also. I really hope other Universities follow your example with their response to testing after this event. As a mother of two young boys, I can't thank you enough.

Hear, Hear

I am also extremely grateful for this site; and disappointed in my own University of Washington's apparent consistency only with air monitoring (as radiation stands to disrupt other of their sensitive testing instruments). As a pregnant woman with a 4-year-old son, I visit this site several times daily. Please do keep up the excellent monitoring!

Indeed, thank you very much

Indeed, thank you very much BRAWM team.

So glad to have some actual data available.

Yes, thank you from me too.

Yes, thank you from me too. This site is great and I really appreciate the time the scientists are putting in to answer all of our queries. A huge thank you from me!!!

Thanks!

Yes indeed. Thanks! A great public service as well as crucial data gathering to be scientifically digested in the future. I hope you guys get some good research grants to study the data.

Yes BRAWN team is much

Yes BRAWN team is much appreciated. Thank you for all you are trying to do. It does not compensate for the lack of disclosure by our government however. And it is painfully obvious they have restricted some information BRAWN may be able to provide. But yes, thanks for all you are doing.
