wild mushrooms?
i noticed some data about wild mushrooms from brawm and was wondering what kind of mushrooms they were? also have you thought about testing more recent samples, especially high melanin varieties?
also i have been reading that mushrooms with high melanin content are better at bioaccumulating radiation. has anyone seen any articles by prominent west coast mycologists regarding levels of radiation in this years fungi? the only article ive found was by paul stamets talking about the remediation ability of certain fungi and his idea of growing mushrooms in high radiation areas with the intent of collecting them, incinerating and storing the radioactive ash to get contamination out of the soil.
we are having a bumper crop of morels this year on vancouver island and i can't help but think that it's because they're feeding on the abundance of radioactive rain. my husband is dead set against gathering them though because they could be higher in radiation than almost anything else around here. it's probably unlikely but does anyone know of an independant lab in canada where we could have them tested?
also does anyone know of wild mushroom testing in washington state? bc isnt really testing anything but wa is close enough that we are trusting our levels to be similar to theirs.
