Why is it that Fukushima and fallout risk/data is not on any nationatal news on TV?
I have had some time off and watching more TV than usual, various news station. I do not understand that there is literally NO news about Fukushima or related topics. NO news information or health education news about types of radiation etc. I am stunned.
Is it because the government is controlling our news?
How can they do it?
Is CNN not independent? I just do not understand-- there is not a single mentioning of Fukushima and current situation/update on national TV?
Anybody knows how that is possible?

But the media is famous for overblowing situations. Remember bird flu, mad cow, measles outbreaks, anthrax, the list goes on. All of these situations hurt the economy. People stay indoors more and are afraid to go out. This situation is far beyond any of those stories - and yet nothing. Every now and again, they report on what is going on, but it's certainly not daily anymore. While I tend to think there's some agenda (not a fan of the government), I also think that if there was something to "scare" the public with, the news would be all over it. Maybe it's the calm before the storm. Maybe the threat here in the U.S. is not what alarmists believe it to be - at the moment. I don't know, I'm speculating. I worry about everything, so I've wondered why there's no news as well. I'm hoping it's because it's not as bad as I fear.

they overblow situations where there is no justification to scare people into consuming (buying guns, gas masks, etc). Swine flu was a WINDFALL for the pharmaceutical industry that created a vaccine we didn't really need. They're not interested in real investigative journalism to connect the dots from nuclear/oil/wall street to our government and how increasingly we the people exist to benefit the corporations, not the other way around.

I for one want to say thank you to the BRAWM team for their efforts and hard work. If it were not for them, we would not have access to any data or a forum for sharing info and thoughts on the matter.
That said, it is very disturbing to myself as someone educated in the science field (microbiologist) and a mother of small children that this disaster is not being monitored closer and more testing and reporting is not being done all across the US and of course Japan. There are a few things that surprised me to say the least about the response to this disaster. No warning on the initial cloud coming over...absolutely nothing. Not even to limit exposure to the outdoors for children. They do this for smoggy days in LA even. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this was negligent. The lack of air, water, and milk testing and reporting early on and now is also surprising. When France announced that their fallout levels were no longer insignificant and they issued a health warning about their milk for pregnant women, infants, and children while here in the US it is safe...what? Again, it doesn't make sense and it does not take a rocket scientist to figure it out. I could go on but this post would be very long.
Now massive amounts of highly radioactive waste was/is? being dumped into the ocean. No problem, it won't reach us....NOT. Everything is connected. One only needs a basic knowledge of college biology to understand this. Japan's fishing economy, I am afraid, is done for a long time. Now other countries are finding radioactivy in their fish from Fukishima. It is bad news and that is why it is not being reported. Over here, the effects will not be noticeable statistically until years from now, however that does not make it any less significant. That is the problem with science sometimes (and I love it, don't get me wrong) the reporting of it is usually after the fact. Regarding radiation, however, I don't think we have that luxury. We are not as bad off as Japan of course, but we will feel the effects of this disaster.
BTW, I would love to be proven wrong on my view of this disaster by BRAWN or a Biologist, Physiologist, Medical Doctor etc from UC Berkeley or another reputable University. Any comments from experts like these are always welcome. Again, thank you BRAWM for being there and doing what you are doing.

I'm not sure why no one turns to American history -- ANY history, from any period -- to see how blatant yet unexplainable "coverups" have become. One could simply take a daily look at the wires service reports, see that occasionally reporters document some truly alarming or disturbing reports come through from all over the world about military blunders, new toxins released, etc., and then watch as they are either "revised" simply never make it to the evening news or local paper.
For example I will NEVER forget the horrific details in "U.S. accidentally blows up SUV filled with women and children - baby blown in half" and how it became "Military stops suspicious potential terrorist threat", omitting the women and children.
On a much more direct note to this discussion, simply take a few minutes to look into the facts and actions of those involved in two relatively recent events: the deliberate failure of the Federal government to warn and protect the populace of New York regarding the air quality after 9/11; and the long-running repeated NUCLEAR accidents, leaks and deliberate releases at the Santa Susanna facility in Simi Valley near Los Angeles from 1957 to 2005 which were heavily suppressed by the government, the media, and the corporations involved.
After these two cover-ups, who in their right mind could ever trust our government and mass media again?
