What does this tell you

This is off off a nuclear physicist and engineering board I have been watching since day one.

Airborne Strontium-90 has been detected by Russia.
That was the start of the current discussion about Strontium. How high is the chance that Russia detects it thousands of kilometers away and the Japanese authorities can't (or rather won't) find any.

Very high. Russians don't like Strontium-90, due to generally better public understanding of radioactivity vs radiation because of Cold War, and to strontium-90 being rather creepy (it just accumulates in bones. Cs-137 is not very notable because it acts a lot like K-40).

Strontium 89-90 has been reported in several villages (Japan)

"MEXT reported on measurements of strontium-89 (half-life: 50.5 days) and strontium-90(half-life: 28.8 years) in three samples taken in one village in the Fukushima prefecture on 16 March. The activities in soil for Sr-89 ranged from 13 and 260 Bq/kg and for Sr-90 between 3.3 and 32 Bq/kg. Sr-90 was also distributed globally during nuclear weapons' testing in the atmosphere, typical global levels of Sr-90 in surface soils are in the order of one to a few becquerel per kg. Strontium was also measured in plant samples in four others villages, with values ranging from 12 to 61 Bq/kg for Sr-89 and 1.8 to 5.9 Bq/kg for Sr-90." (Reported by IAEA yesterday)

Strontium fortified milk.

Strontium fortified milk. Nice.

29 year half-life.

MMMMMM MMMMMMM GOOD! (yes,

MMMMMM MMMMMMM GOOD! (yes, that was sarcasm)

Oh and it gets better Oops.

Oh and it gets better

Oops. Failed attempt on sarcasm on my side.
Russia can find Strontium because they are looking for it. I suppose that the US has found it too but did not release the information du to their considerations of the Japanese culture/feelings/further relationship.

Pardon me, but [deleted] that.

I'm not risking my life, my wife's, or my child's to keep the Japanese, or for that matter ANYBODY, from being "embarrassed".

I am beginning to get very very angry. Anyone with me, or getting there, themselves?

I too am more than frustrated with this cover-up.

For me personally, the greatest irritation is that I'm getting tired of being the "paranoid parent".

Because our officials refuse to issue the needed warnings, which should have been issued weeks ago, those of us who have legitimate concerns are being forced to continuously defend those concerns.

It makes no matter that there is overwhelming evidence proving we must protect young children from this contamination immediately.

Hey Rick. I cannot really confirm the Russia story anywhere

BUT the IAEA reported yesterday on the levels of Sytrontium 89 and 90 found outside the plant (in several villages) at very high levels.

I REALLY iwsh the US was actually testing for this and keeping us advised.

I have my theories why they are not (most operating nuke plants emit large amounts of strontium 90 as part of their regular releases all permitted under NRC regs so they may not ant to open this can of worms)

They blame it on residual nuke testing but

see this site where EVERY BABY TOOTH TESTED has been found to contain Strontium 90 (Radiation and Public Health Project: www.radiation.org )

The levels of strontium 89 (half life 55 days) indicates that these levels at least are from Fukushima or somewhere else upwind. They MIGHT be just the regular sh*t that nukes emit. But right now it looks like Fukushima fires and blasts blew this into the atmosphere which means it is probably here too and NO ONE is looking for it. Its a crime.

It IS that, Bill, you're right: A CRIME. Thanks for Reply. [nt]

I have been angry with it

I have been angry with it since day one. And call me crazy, but flip the PR reports in Japanese on the Tepco website from Chinese to English instead and you will become more angry. Start with the first on on 4/1. Tell me there isn't more going on there after you read them.

I used google translate. Peace all, hang in there.
