Washing Vegetables

In this article:
http://www.japantoday.com/category/commentary/view/what-are-points-of-caution-in-consuming-contaminated-fish
it states:

For vegetables, it is effective to wash or peel them as radioactive materials get attached to the surface. For fish, however, radioactive materials could be drawn into the body through seawater and feed, so they can be eliminated significantly by removing offal. It is also important to wash the fish because there may be some radioactive materials left on the surface. It is recommended to avoid eating fish skin.

I find it hard to believe that washing vegetables will make them "safe"?

thoughts?

not recomeded

for fish...? it is dangerous

i guess that depends on alot

i guess that depends on alot of things. bioaccumulation being the biggest culprit here. they are already finding radioiodine in spinach, and in rainwater and seaweed in Vancouver BC. and the smartest thing you could do would be to wash your fruits and vegetables with a solution of baking soda and water, or use a food safe commercial vegetable wash, or very small amounts of liquid soap detergent. just rinse it real good.
