The continued presence of I-131...
Hello, and thanks for all the hard work put into this website. My question is thus:
Why are we continuing to see (what appear to me) to be steady or even slightly increasing levels of I-131 in not only your results, but radnet air monitoring as well. Shouldn't I-131 be in serious decay at this point? Is the condition of Dai-ichi plant still creating I-131, and dispersing it? If so, what needs to happen at Dai-ichi for the I-131 to stop?
From the information I can find, I-131 is a fission product only created when reaction is critical. Maybe I am mistaken.
I guess, simply put - Why, after 3 weeks, are we still seeing so much I-131, and when should it stop considering the current situation at Dai-ichi?

check out the fairvew video,
check out the fairvew video, they talk about a meltdown in 4 reactors. Sad but true.
I'm familiar with the
I'm familiar with the fairwind stuff...and I am not interested in that kind of speculation. I'm asking some specific questions:
1) Is Fukushima Dai-Ichi still producing I-131? If yes, why is it still producing I-131, and what will make it stop?
2) If Fukushima Dai-Ichi IS NO LONGER PRODUCING I-131, why are we seeing the levels measured right now, 04.08.11, and what can we expect re: I-131 levels over the next 4-8 weeks?
3) Can the situation at Fukushima Dai-Ichi change/worsen in a way that would allow it to start producing and emitting I-131 again, after the initial release?
I'd like some hard scientific answers, if at all possible.

aha. you don't seem to get it. everything that you discount here is not speculation but fact. i hope you're not a racist sir. you have four reactors in partial and/or complete meltdown, they don't really have handle on this. this is not good, the radiation fallout from this event is going to have disasterous consequences.
you should be worried about the other toxic radioactive subtances, they aren't going to just disappear.
seems to me that the
seems to me that the fiarewinds stuff, if you had the patience to pay attention, would answer your 1 and 3.
