Strawberries and other fruit.
Are there plans to test locally grown fruits such as strawberries and oranges?
Would one expect fruits and berries to absorb radiation as readily as grasses?
If strawberries from California are shipped to Arizona, how long would it usually be between picking and being put in the store?

We've tested our first batch
We've tested our first batch of locally-grown strawberries and will post the results in the morning. We'll be trying other berries soon.
Not sure how long it would take the berries to make it to Arizona -- it probably depends on the specific farm or distributor. You could try calling the company, they might have an idea.

Hot Produce and Seafood...
Since the problems with Fukushima are expected to go on for a few YEARS, hopefully testing of agricultural and other food products will be ongoing and we look forward to your results.
Our Dr. reminded us to purchase hot house grown mushrooms since they are a known conentrator of Cesium and mentioned that berries, especially dark ones tend to concentrate various nuclides as well. I can't wait until we find a good hand held geiger counter/dosimeter to check food and environment.
Now that Plutonium and many other radioactive materials have been released into the ocean we'll be fresh water fishing or purchasing fresh water fish only.
Now that a Japanese Chef has discontinued serving seafood since the disastrous and necessary release of Fukushima Daiichi's cooling waters into the Pacific I'm going to miss eating ocean fish, fish roe such as Caviar and other seafoods including seaweeds since they all will have the potential of harboring dangerous radioactive material with many that have half lives that exceed a normal human lifespan not to mention the potential for some off the wall cancer.
See: http://www.nisa.meti.go.jp/english/files/en20110325-6.pdf for report as regards this:

Fresh water fish could have
Fresh water fish could have just as much radiation in it as fish caught outside of Japan. What's wrong with non migratory fish outside of Japan. I can't understand why you want ot avoid all ocean fish.
How about hydroponically
How about hydroponically grown produce? Or greenhouse grown since they aren't exposed to rainwater.
My mother recently bought some strawberries(I am the OP btw) that are California grown. I told her about the radionuclides detected and she proceeded to tease me since I have a history of mysophobic behavior and she grew up around the DDT era in agricultural communities. Then again I'm 22, not 2.
My concern is mostly the cesium though.
