If all of you are serious then let's raise money!

We are all in search of answers that we are not likely to receive.

1) We are not going to get any testing done that we want from the U.S. Gov. Stop complaining and/or whining because it won't happen. Just bite your tongue and deal with it. We've already heard of plenty of examples of being ignored at both the state and federal level.

2) Berkeley doesn't have the funds to do everything and unfortunately no one has come up with an ingenious idea to fund any of these projects. I would actually take on the fund raising and put every penny toward new equipment and testing, but I believe there is more bark than bite on these forums with people offering to donate. I myself would donate at least $500 to get new testing equipment. I would certainly be curious to see who else who would be interested.

3) The crucial part has all but passed us in my opinion. Although the leaks will continue, I believe most of the particles that will make it this direction are already here, so many of these tests would likely render useless results. I do think continued monitoring of drinking water, milk and soil over the next 24 months is crucial. I also believe testing fish within 12 months and upwards of 4 years to see if any of the radioactive waste poured into the Pacific in Japan will make it to our food chain.

Everyone needs to keep in mind that this nuclear industry isn't like oil. I would guess that most of the seasoned guys in the industry and the colleges around the U.S. all have a relationship at some level or at most 1 degree of separation. It's tight knit and there's a reason for that.

If any of you are serious I will certainly take on the fund raising aspect. I am in a position financially where I can free up some time to do this, so if any of you out there are serious, then like they said at 9/11, LET'S ROLL!

Donation

I, for one, would most certainly donate. If a strong, scientifically valid plan was proposed with air-tight parameters, people with smarts at the top and guaranteed transparency, I would hope that many others would contribute, too. What do you have in mind?

Hey, Berkeley Team! If anyone around you could post something simple here:
http://www.donorschoose.org/
we all could donate to you via the site. Maybe you could price out some equipment or price out some of your time. I bet you'd get a lot of money flowing your way to continue your good work. We really would love to help.

I think there are many people that would contribute, but we should get an idea from the team how much money they would need and what kinds of services they could provide.

Yes, we need to have a rough idea of how much money we would need to raise. I'd throw in $100 or so.

I don't see this going

I don't see this going anywhere. All barkers are quiet. I wish there was an outside source or group that could take this on as I think UC Berkeley would not.
