Breast Milk Volunteers?

Would UCBNE be willing to test breast milk if there were volunteers?

Testing cow's milk is great, but shouldn't we also test mother's milk since babies are the most vulnerable population for radiation exposure?

There have been many posts in this forum from people who are pregnant or have young children. Any volunteers?

depends on what mom eats

As one of the many parents of babies following this site (which I'm guessing there are a disproportionate number of :-) ), I'm very interested too. If it concentrates in cow's milk, it concentrates in human milk too, right? Bonus points for a mom who eats lots of greens and drinks (cow's) milk.

I too think this is a great

I too think this is a great idea! I breastfeed because I think it is the healthiest option for my baby, however I would like to know what is in there. I eat organic and am a vegetarian and I only use natural products but I do wonder what types of environmental contaminants that I encounter everyday end up in my babes belly. If the Cal team would be taking samples of breastmilk to test I would like to submit a frozen sample from before the crisis and a new sample to compare it with.

Re:

They referred to it previously as bio-accumulation. I'm telling you what, until things get more under control (this being relative considering the long term exposure to Cs), I'm off leafy greens and dairy. Bummer. On the plus side, I do actually like soy milk so it's given me an excuse to buy more. (My husband previously had issue with the price. Not any more.) :o)

PS I'd volunteer myself only

PS I'd volunteer myself only I am in the process of weaning and do not have much these days.

I'm willing

If there is a way to get it down there. I live near Sac so a drive to Berkeley isn't easy.
