strontium

First of all, thanks very much for the information on this site. You guys are doing a great public service here.

I saw data published on iodine, cesium, and questions on plutonium and uranium being answered here in the forum. But there was no data or answer on strontium.

Is strontium detectable by your equipment? How does strontium travel and spread?

thanks

Yes - is strontium 90 etc getting here and is it being tested

And can you explain why it is or is not getting here or being tested for?

It is a little odd, maybe

It is a little odd, maybe nothing. But in 2 of the Fairewinds vids on this event he mentions the Strontium. And not as if he were just explaining what it is. But referring to it as if it were an element involved in this.

The site is down but the vids are on Youtube

There are three different

There are three different types of radiation given off by radionuclides: Gamma, Beta, and Alpha. ). This is how we test for them. All of the current tests you see data for from any source are for Gamma radiation. Not all radionuclides emit enough Gamma rays to detect them (Plutonium (alpha), Strontium(beta), Uranium (alpha))

Heres a pretty good article explaining the difference:

All testing currently being done is Gamma ray detection. Plutonium and Uranium mainly emit alpha rays, Strontium is mainly a beta emitter, hence they are not detected.

UCB said they where planning

UCB said they where planning to set up an alpha spectrometry test this week, not sure what the status is though.
