japan

HI! I just saw where they have updated the mess in Japan to the highest level (7)and they are saying plutonium is releasing uncontrolably into the air because of the breach at the core. They are also saying people within 150 km of the plant should start taking iodine pills, this includes Tokyo. I also saw on energy news where they say the levels of radiation in the bay area are very high today. Should I stay inside today? And should we be taking iodine yet? Thanks for what you are doing, honest news, even if it is a bit scary, is empowering and helps ease the fear. It is the not knowing and lies that make us anxious!

I'm the least to say we

I'm the least to say we shouldn't be concerned, but pretty much everything you're writing is taken either out of context of factually wrong.

Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan has said his government is in a state of maximum alert over high-level radiation leaked from the quake-wrecked nuclear power plant in the country’s northeast.

Speaking at the House of Councilors Budget Committee on Tuesday, Kan said the situation at the plant “continues to be unpredictable” and that the government “will tackle the problem while in a state of maximum alert.”

He gave the assurance to the parliamentary committee after traces of radioactive water as well as highly toxic plutonium were detected outside the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

websites with questionable reliability

I am also not an expert, but this seems to be another one of those websites that either has questionable reliability or bias (like idealist.ws). There seems to be a lot of them floating around these days.

OP do you have a link to this news summary?

hi the link is

hi the link is enenews.com/

home page, look to the right half way down, they show a graph you can click on and talks about high readings for the bay area yesterday and today!

That graph shows readings

That graph shows readings for Xenon-133. Correct me if I'm wrong, but those aren't surface level readings and XE-133 would stay very high up in the atmosphere.

I did see, however, that beta gross count for SF was approaching 50 CPM on the EPA radnet site. Yet, gross gamma was pretty low.

How about for the INES level

How about for the INES level 7 announcement?

Can you provide a link to

Can you provide a link to the bay area readings? I don't have TV news. So wondered if you can find this online.
