Will you be testing Pacific Ocean water?
Isn't the volume of the atmosphere much great than that of the hydrosphere? If the signal in the air is detectable won't there be a similar signal in the ocean? To a layman it looks like they're slowly pushing several reactor cores into the ocean.

We don't expect to see
We don't expect to see anything in Ocean water. We can barely see the signature in fresh runoff.
Vancouver seaweed contaminated
Seaweed in Vancouver has been found to be contaminated:

From the article:
From the article: "Meanwhile, seaweed samples were still showing increasing iodine-131 as of March 28, according to data provided by Starosta. In samples of dehydrated seaweed taken on March 15 near the North Vancouver SeaBus terminal, the count was zero; on March 22 it was 310 Bq per kilogram; and by March 28 it was 380 Bq/kg.".
The pathway for this seaweed contamination is most likely from rain runoff concentrating at the shoreline and not from the sea water in general. I would expect some contamination pathways to plants exposed to rain water either from the soil or from run off. It is my estimation hat this is not from sea water contamination originating in Japan, but from transport of airborne radionuclides over the Pacific then scrubbed by the rain water followed by run off to the sea.
