Solid angle and gamma range in water corrections

Could someone comment whether and how the correction for fill factor/solid angle was done.

Also, was there a correction made for limited range of gamma rays in water (a significant correction for ~1 liter samples).

Thank you.

We calibrated our system

We calibrated our system with a multi-source 1L Mirabelli beaker exactly the same geometry as our rain water measurements. By knowing the number of peak counts at the varying energies in our detector and the number of emissions from the water, we get a peak efficiency calibration. The result is around 1% at 364keV for both the air and water systems. If you are clever, you could look at the various lines in I-131 and work out the calibration curve functional. We are currently doing this now. A highly calibrated Mirabelli is on its way so we can get "publication" quality numbers.
