Coursework
The Master of Engineering program requires a minimum of 40 units;
20 units of course work in the professional major oriented toward
design and analysis; technical-breadth courses to acquaint the
student with other technical fields; and a non-engineering breadth
requirement.
40 UNITS REQUIRED |
16-20 UNITS MAJOR FIELD: Courses should be
oriented towards design and analysis. Must be all graduate
courses. |
| 8 UNITS SECOND MAJOR: Graduate and
undergraduate courses in technical fields different from the
professional major. |
8 UNITS NON-ENGINEERING FIELD: 8 units of
graduate or advanced undergraduate courses taken outside
the College of Engineering are required. (See your major
field advisor for more detail). |
| 4-8 UNITS INDIVIDUAL STUDY (NE 299) |
| NON-COURSE REQUIREMENT: Written
report rrequired. |
The M. Eng is subject to the following:
i) Units for 298 (seminar) courses are not counted towards the
degree.
ii) Study list approval by the major field adviser is required
each semester.
iii) A maximum of 4 units of coursework from
approved non-academic institutions or four units from another academic
institution can be used, provided course was taken while in graduate
standing and meets departmental approval.
iv) Units for graduate courses taken as an undergraduate are allowed
if the units were in excess of units required to satisfy the BS
degree requirements. All students must take at least 2 letter-grade NE courses during
the first year as a graduate student. |
