Worried parent flying with kids over northern hemisphere

We are going to fly from LAX to Europe. I will be bringing my two daughters with me. Should I be worried about them inhaling any hot particles from fukushima while flying over the northern hemisphere? I would greatly appreciate an answer soon. Thanks

I call BS on your call of BS...

Why now? Maybe the parent has never taken the children on a plane before. Maybe the worried parent only became aware of the FUKU fallout recently - it's not like our government has been telling anyone to be concerned. A giant 60-ft dock from Japan floats ashore in Oregon, and where is the Coast Guard? The DHS? Now, if there had been a kilo of pot or an al-Queda underpants bomber...

Clarification

My argument was not with the OP's concern - it was that if there were indeed enough radioactive materials to cause skin rashes on flight crews, why would this be a 2012 issue and not previously? Why now, and not then (ie 3-4/11)?

I do agree of course that the MSM and GovCo have been thoroughly useless during this mess.

But my statement above still holds...

... since our glorious empire has never linked flight attendants' skin rashes with Fukushima's ongoing fallout (surprise, surprise), awareness, concern and mitigation is left entirely up to the individual - whenever they happen to come into his sphere of consciousness.

nothing wrong with flying over it but...

living in it?? Nah. You'd have to be crazy to do that.

If polar bears could fly... would they choose not to?

Here is another article from the International Business Times on the possible link between flight attendants' mysterious rashes and (gasp)... Fukushima -

Question- Why now, and not

Question-

Why now, and not last year, when the fat was most definitely in the fire? Did anyone report issues like this when the initial meltdown happened?

I call BS on this.

Everyone else can make their own call...since "nada" is the state of official and/or credible info at this stage so far as current atmospheric emissions. Myself, I think the Mickey Mouse efforts at cooling it down are mostly keeping crap out of the air.

One reporter's opinion, etc...

Radiation from Fukushima won't be a problem...

If you are flying over the northern polar regions, radiation from Fukushima will be the least of your problems. The radiation from Fukushima will be trivial compared to the cosmic radiation from outer space.

Additionally, it will be worse since you are going over the poles. Much of the dose from cosmic radiation is due to charged particles. The Earth's magnetic field lines help shield us normally from this type of radiation because the charged particles are deflected when they attempt to cross the field lines.

However, at the north pole, the field lines are nearly vertical, and the charged particles are going along the lines instead of attempting to cross them. Therefore, the Earth's magnetic field does NOT shield you from this radiation while crossing either of the poles.

That's why your radiation dose in a transpolar route is even higher than your radiation dose for a normal airliner trip.

Mother Nature will radiate you much, much more than anything from Fukushima in a transpolar flight.

Backscatter x-ray scanners at LAX

In addition to cosmic radiation related to air flight, there is also some man made ionizing radiation in US airports that is used by the TSA. There are 22 backscatter x-ray scanners in use at LAX. They are really controversial, you might want to have the kids patted down instead. Don't worry about backscatter x-ray scanners at European Airports, they have been outlawed in Europe already.

What, me worry?

If you're worried, just tell your doctor and he will prescribe some tranquilizers. Japanese officials have assured their concerned citizens that radiation only becomes a hazard when people worry about it. Your airline stewardess may even offer you some during your in-flight beverage service. And please, please, do not read http://americanholocaustcoming.blogspot.com/2012/05/fukushima-radiation-...

Nice website.

Your link seems very credible LOL.

Check out the blog's banner - "This blog is about the coming crisis of MARTIAL LAW and the NEW WORLD ORDER agenda for AMERICA!It also offers HOPE and the CHRISTIAN SOLUTION for their NEW WORLD ORDER's "FINAL SOLUTION."

Thanks for the laugh PF...you're the man.

OUR radiation is harmless - You got that?

Well, I did implore you NOT to read it, didn't I? That blog did include a link to the "official story", which claims the culprit in the Alaska Airlines uniforms is tributyl phosphate. Hey, how about this for a coincidence - The only thing our "mystified" scientists found in those burning San Onofre beach rocks was an elevated phosphate level. It seems, these days, that the only things we have to fear are phosphate... and al Qaeda underpants bombs!

Professor Farnsworth

No.

Myself, I would not be concerned one bit about this.
